Kiper's First 2011 Big Board
A pretty good resource if you want to know who to look out for while watching college football this fall. 1. Jake Locker QB 6-3 226Analysis: Has all the physical tools -- size, arm, even speed and improving footwork. His accuracy should improve as he gets comfortable in the offense. 2. Andrew Luck* QB 6-4 235Analysis: Great arm, NFL smarts, solid footwork. Prototypical size and intangibles. Luck even has the ability to check down and plays with veteran savvy. 3. Robert Quinn* DE 6-4 267Analysis: Still just 19, Quinn is a freakish athlete. He's still developing consistency and will need to prove he can be productive game to game. 4. A.J. Green* WR 6-4 207Analysis: The profile of a No. 1 receiver at the NFL level. Green has a great size-speed combination, is instinctive and has great hands. He's developing as a technical receiver. 5. Adrian Clayborn DE 6-3 282Analysis: Most consistent, complete defensive end on the board. Solid pass-rusher, steady against run. Fits as a 3-4 or 4-3 end and simply batters linemen. 6. Prince Amukamara CB 6-1 200Analysis: A big corner with a ton of talent. Amukamara has the necessary speed and leads a deep CB class. 7. Ryan Mallett* QB 6-7 238Analysis: Has an incredible arm but still must develop footwork, accuracy. Mallett needs to learn to check down, use underneath options. He has volatile stock. 8. Marcell Dareus* DE 6-3 303Analysis: Has the versatility and explosiveness to be a 3-4 DE or DT in 4-3. He's ready to emerge and will be surrounded by talented players. 9. Patrick Peterson* CB 6-1 211Analysis: Safety size with fluidity of a top corner. Maybe the top size-speed combo in this entire class. A.J. Green called him the top corner he's faced. 10. Anthony Castonzo OT 6-7 302Analysis: Pro-style tackle with athleticism to deal with varied styles of rush. Smart player (up for a Rhodes Scholarship) who could add bulk. 11. Nate Solder OT 6-9 310Analysis: A physical specimen, Solder is more than 300 pounds with virtually no body fat. Lacks experience, but talent is clear. 12. Mark Ingram* RB 5-10 212Analysis: Blue-collar runner, explosive after contact. Pro-style workhorse back. Lacks top-end speed, but productivity is outstanding. 13. Jon Baldwin* WR 6-5 225Analysis: Height, physical strength and ball skills are there; so is sub-4.5 speed. Goes up for the ball, will develop route-running skills. 14. Ras-I Dowling CB 6-2 200Analysis: Experienced, smooth CB; has fluid hips. In a tight battle with Peterson and Amukamara as top corner in this class. 15. Allen Bailey DE 6-4 288Analysis: Still learning end position but has ideal size and flashed brilliance here late in 2009. Bailey could project as a 3-4 or 4-3 DE but looks better at the 4-3. 16. Julio Jones* WR 6-4 211Analysis: Great physical tools and a fantastic blocker. There are questions about his hands and consistency, but his only limit is concentration. Could easily rise. 17. Cameron Heyward DE 6-6 287Analysis: He's more dominant versus the run than the pass and needs to find consistency. Gains points for versatility along the line. 18. Akeem Ayers* OLB 6-4 252Analysis: Budding star, an absolute physical specimen with ideal size. Ready to break out. Cover skills trump pass-rushing skills at this stage. 19. Ryan Williams* RB 5-10 207Analysis: A TD machine; has great quickness, underrated strength. He could be a dynamic back with a bit of added size but runs hard and finishes well. 20. Michael Floyd* WR 6-3 220Analysis: Feared deep threat, best receiver on a team with Golden Tate last year. He lacks top-end speed, though, and must prove durability. 21. Bruce Carter OLB 6-3 230Analysis: Smart, reliable outside linebacker in a 4-3 defense. Could add size but uses speed to cover entire field. Must learn to shed blocks better. 22. Rahim Moore* S 6-1 196Analysis: A ball hawk who led the nation in interceptions last season and moves well from sideline to sideline. Will need to prove he can be physical versus blocks. 23. Marvin Austin DT 6-3 305Analysis: He flashes dominance but must gain consistency. He's an ideal 4-3 penetrating tackle, but his production isn't up to the level of his talent. 24. Von Miller OLB 6-3 243Analysis: Penetrating, disruptive pass-rusher, ideal in a 4-3. Still adding technique and must add lower-body strength. Will be run at a lot this season. 25. Stephen Paea DT 6-1 311Analysis: Dominating, disruptive defender against the run. Has rugby background. Can still develop pass-rush skills. Strong -- benches 550 pounds. |
