Default Michael Vick, not a Falcon... not an Eagle either.... but a Phoenix

We all know the story, Michael Vick was supposed to change the NFL game, he came in and completely disrupted the league with his electrifying highlights, and fresh style of play that the NFL had ever seen. It was was headed in a good direction, the falcons were consistent playoff contenders under his reign, and then it all came crashing down. It was the single event that truly brought character to the forefront and started a series of decisions from the NFL that lead to a crackdown on NFL players that violated the rules. More strict and harsh penalties were given out, less slack was given, Mike Vick truly changed the game.

He had an illegal dogfighting crime ring, and tax fraud on his resume. He was taken down, and taken down hard. All his riches, GONE, his fame turned to infamy, and his name was tarnished, same as his career.... or was it?

After 2 years in jail, 1 year being buried on an NFL depth chart, and 3 years of being criticized, downtrodden, and deprived of game time, this dirty bird has risen from the ashes. In a series of events that rival that of a miracle, i.e. Vick being signed for a second year after lackluster production, donovan mcnabb being traded, and kevin kolb enduring a concussion.... Mike Vick took the reigns last week of the Philly Eagles and showed the world something amazing, after not playing QB in the league for almost 4 years, he came in and posted some legit numbers and almost staged a miraculous comeback. The most amazing thing, is that he looked as if he went to a Tom Brady skills clinic, yes, we saw the resurgence of the Mike Vick of yesteryear with 103 rushing yards, but also an unfamiliar side of the once electrifying superstar, he had a Brady like 103 QB rating, and had a 66% completion percentage, he passed for 175 yards and was only in for a bit more than half the game. He looked better than ever. Could the time he spent in a cell, and buried on the chart humbled him? Does Vick have his best years as an NFL QB ahead of him? Time will only tell. But I will say this, if Vick has a big game tomorrow, and the eagles win.... how do they NOT start him over Kolb? Do they trade him? What happens there?

If it happens like I think it will, this may be one of the NFL's greatest comeback stories

(I might make this a blog post)

They said it the best on one of the local sports stations. Michael Vick looks great on the highlight reel, but to watch him play for a full 60 minutes is another story. He made some ugly throws and some bad plays. He has a lot of bad habits that he's never really been able to shake.

The Eagles team has a lot of weapons on it, and Vick would become another weapon in that stable but I question his ability to run a efficient offense as opposed to just lighting it up on a scramble every now and then.

Even if he were to win out the Eagles starting job, it would only be a matter of time before he wasn't good enough for that Fan Base anymore and I also don't think a lot of fans will be able to move on from the dogfighting fiasco. That was real ugly, and I was in the camp that believe he shouldn't even be playing football anymore.

Time will tell the Michael Vick tale, but I think that his most prolific days are behind him.

We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results.
Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them.
I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year.
It's going to be tough.
We aren't Barking Hard for nothing.

Vick is a shine, plain and simple. He slaughtered dogs, broke every tax rule in the book, blew his cash on bullshit, sponsored his little bro in drugs and basically refused to put time in to learn the QB position in the NFL. The guy is shit, period.

Anybody that roots for this pussy is a pussy themselves.

the PFT poll today is should andy reid have chosen Kolb or vick for next week, Vick is winning by a huge margin.

He put up GREAT passing numbers the other day, plus he have this really great quote about how the Eagles have helped him with his passing game, and how he's taking things more seriously, and getting discipline

Quote:
"I'm 10 times better than I was four years ago,'' Vick said. "I've learned so much about the position, about being a complete quarterback, from [coach] Andy [Reid] and [offensive coordinator] Marty [Mornhinweg]. How to stay active back there, how to make good decisions, or they'll be down my throat. I like that. It's something I need.''
I dont know guys, it sounds like Vick is a changed man

What would you expect him to say?

That he's still associating with the "wrong" crowd (like the guys who shot someone at a birthday party this past summer)?

Sometimes people don't really change, but they can put up a good show when there is incentive.

Just for the record...
I detest Ray Lewis, Leonard Little (currently a semi-retired fa) and Mike Vick.
I don't give a damn about # of probowls when it comes to those 3, I would NEVER cheer for them and would boycott all games the Browns played if they had them or people like them on the team.

I think you are the exception to the rule.

If we traded for Vick and he led us to wins?

I think the vast majority of Browns fans would look the other way, just as Ravens fans look the other way for Lewis.

I'm serious. I wouldn't attend any games or turn on the tv and would stop hanging out in the Browns forums until they were gone (and it would KILL me, you guys are fantastic).
All my Browns stuff would go to the goodwill and I'd spend every Sunday on the lake fishing.
I'm sorry, but if you've killed someone or animals and shown NO signs or remorse you shouldn't be playing pro sports. Too many kids look up to these guys as role models and with society going to hell the last thing we need is to send the message "Hey, it's ok to rape and kill so long as you've got the money to cover your tracks."
BTW, add Big Jen to the list that would make me want to dump the Browns.

I can't give you any more rep currently, so I'll just have to give this post a big time thumbs up.
