Default The Pickle's first game

Since I'm stuck watching this dreck of a game, thought I'd chime in on Clausen's first start.

And, as I started typing this, he fumbled the snap and the Bungles came away with it, after a long run by Williams.

An inauspicious start...

Pickle was befuddled. Looked about as bad as a QB could look.

Just completed a throw-'em-up bomb. Other than that, not a lot to like.

Also got seriously abused including on a decent final throw to endzone.

Sounds like an expected start for "The Clau".

Sounds like most of his mistakes were the anxious rookie variety.

When the time comes we can contrast this with McCoy's first game.

"Shep" (just another guy on a message board) has an opinion.:
"I was not a huge Colt McCoy fan going into the draft. I thought the Browns should take Clausen.
When they passed on him at 38, I literally crapped myself and threw up at the same time."

I noticed MOST of his completions were short throws to the RBs. I kept watcjhing durign commercials of the Browns' game. Late in the 2nd half, Steve Smith got his first completion which was a 5 or 6 yard pass on the sidelines.

Well, in his defense, he has some of the worst wide receivers in the league, after Steve Smith.

I mean, come on, Gettis is his #2 wide receiver, and his TE's are garbage.

The line was absolutely horrible. As debuts go... certainly not among the worst. Only one pick and 188 yards? Not so bad.

He certainly wasn't good, let alone great... but he also wasn't dreadful. Key now is to see if he can grow behind that non-protection. Moore was getting pretty beat up, too.

The saddest part of all this? Carson Palmer was BARELY better than The Pickle today(going off stats and word of mouth here). Looks like an AFCN rival is part of the QB sweepstakes this year.

Palmer has not been the same since his cheap shot from the Pukers. Way overrated IMO.

I thought I heard the announcers say that Clausen could have easily had like 4 more picks ...maybe I misheard.

Clausen looked awful. Totally befuddled. He lacked confidence and support.

Carolina is a mess, folks. You think we have issues? Watch them sometime. You'll feel better about how we've played, I promise you.
