After having Shannahan on my couch for the better part of today..I can say he's thinking; Wow I thought the Redskins were better than this when I accepted! McNabb? what was I thinking? ...oh yeah that they were better than this . Russel...well he does have a cannon arm and so did Elway...hrm...ok he's not as mobile....but he's fat enough to absorb two hits before he goes down.. |

Just another example that there is just too much between coaching and gming for one guy to handle. The game has come along so far that one guy just can't do it himself, that you really need 2 people that can work together to be successful. That and maybe those spoiled Philly fans who wanted McNabb out of town just might be right... If Donovan concentrated on quarterbacking a little more and making Chunky soup commercials with his mom a little less maybe Washington wouldn't be in this mess!

It's been fun to watch Mark Schlereth (sp?) this week try to simultaneously criticize Shanahan for a baffling game decision/lie about said decision and maintain his longstanding refusal to admit that his old boss can do anything wrong. He's settled on a twofold approach: benching McNabb was clearly the right move, because week in and week out he's one of the worst QBs in the league, but his baffling series of lies about why he did it was probably a tactical error, since it distracts the players from what a genius Shanahan is. To take his points in order: 1. McNabb isn't close to the worst starting QB in the league, and if he is, it's in part due to the fact that Rex Grossman no longer has a starting job (for now, anyway). 2. In terms of distracting from Shanahan's genius, I would think that everything that has happened since John Elway retired would take care of that one. Also, there's the lying that your average coach does to everyone who'll listen, and then there's saying that your fat, out-of-shape QB (who was fat and out of shape when you got him) is physically incapable of running the offense and then immediately working out a guy whose only physical activity over the last four years was lifting cases of cough syrup.* Forget your players thinking you're a liar; in that case they might think you're a moron. Dennis *-On another note, why is that illegal? Not to inject too much libertarianism into a perfectly good football thread, but who gives a crap if a guy who a) wants to; and b) can afford it wants to spend his free time doing something only marginally less productive--but probably way more fun--than, say, playing Farmville or posting to Internet message boards? Think of the children? Think of your own children--it's not my fault you chose to bear live young. |

Hiway, it's just Shanahan. The guy is a dumbass when it comes to personnel decisions yet is still riding that hype train from two Superbowls with a team he inherited sooooo, teams let him make dumbass decisions like benching McNabb for Grossman.

And people want him to come here???? No thanks! |

| Who wants him to come here? Not that Shanny is a terrible coach 'cause he isn't, it's just that he's mediocre with a GIANT ego. Plus doing stupid shit like benching Plummer for Cutler or McNabb for Grossman is a big turn off. |

I may have actually been guilty of it myself, truth be told. Of course that was when we were looking for a President of Football Operations/GM and I honestly didn't think Lerner would get a top tier guy in here(much less two). Kind of a best of the worst available type thing, get a guy who could at least average between 7-9 and 9-7 every year for a few years to stabilize things. That said THANKFULLY it didn't happen and we grabbed a top notch staff. I wouldn't trade this staff for him under any circumstance. |

| At the end of last, there was a "Who would you rather have than Mangini" thread where we were asked who we felt would be more capable of turning the franchise around. I believe the post was made before we brought in H3.
