Red face To Panthers fans: so sorry!!!

Panthers sign QB Derek Anderson - Sacramento Sports - Kings, 49ers, Raiders, High School Sports | Sacramento Bee

Seriously though, this had me laughing my ass off!!!

Watching what will happen in Carolina and what's happening in Denver (where our former QB's have landed) all I can say is:

THANK GOD IT'S NOT US!!!!!

They do this kid right and move him along in an offense centered around him? Yeah, without seeing him throw one pass during live action, I have heard too many former players turned talking heads saying this kid is the real deal. Obviously his coach loves him, and his former coaches in college say he was a freaking football junkie, and then considering all this kid has done is dominate and win.

Yeah I can see this happening.

Back to the OP: Derek Anderson? Seriously? Laughing boy hasn't retired yet? WTF man, this guy is now on his 4th team. He must be laughing all the way to the bank. FWIW, people in Oregon tell me he was actually a nice guy. He and Matt Moore got tore to shreads there before they blew up big, but they always were class acts. I don't hate Derek.

I don't hate DA either, about the only pro athlete I hate is LeBron and that Roid Monk from Pittspuke and Akron.

I just knew DA sucked, even during 2007. It killed me when Phillip gave him that contract, because it was then that I knew Phil was a buffoon.

I was just discussing Derek Anderson with my browns buddy the other day. I said Anderson wouldn't land another nfl team. He looked at me and confidently said "No, another team will sign him..." sure enough, the next day I read this...

Classic!

We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results.
Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them.
I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year.
It's going to be tough.
We aren't Barking Hard for nothing.

Derek Anderson seems to be the only misstep they've made. They overpaid DeAngelo Wiliams ($) and Greg Olsen (3rd round pick), but those guys will provide a lot of help to Newton.

The running game will continue to be strong, especially with mauling right tackle Jeff Otah healthy, and Olsen will be a nice security blanket for Newton. They'll probably run a lot of bootlegs, limiting Cam to half-field high/low reads. Olsen should be useful there.

All in all, the Panthers have given Cam a pretty good cockpit. And with the poise he's shown in the past -- playing well despite the controversy, bringing his team back from behind, being very effective against the blitz -- you've got a guy who could become a very good NFL quarterback.

I'm interested to see how Cam plays given his controversy and hype out of the draft. I think he's got all of the tools to be a successful NFL Quarterback, he's just going to have to prove that poise and bring that to the field. He could end up like Ryan Leaf or the aforementioned Akili Smith or he could end up like a Matt Ryan type of QB... who knows... (not direct comparisons more comparing the impact of their rookie seasons)

My money is Carolina becomes the first team to take multiple QB's #1 overall in consecutive years and the first team to draft a QB early three years in a row.

I've always said Cam will be good and I called him going number one in the draft before he won his Heisman. Too many skills, plus he actually works and isn't a blithering moron like VY. He can also throw, unlike Pryor.
