So are the Colts or Panthers getting Luck?

So this move which seemed precautionary, now you must ask some questions like why does he need a second neck surgery? Give him time to recover from the first one. Maybe he hit the field too soon after the surgery and re-aggravated whatever was corrected initially. Either way, this is a tough blow for the Colts and a bizzare chapter in the career of Peyton Manning.
__________________ BROWNS 2012: Its Weeden's job to lose, it was the second we took him #22 overall. We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results. Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them. I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year. It's going to be tough. We aren't Barking Hard for nothing. WOOF WOOF WOOF! ![]() |

| The Colts finally have some bad luck at QB for seemingly the first time in the last 15 years. However, there's too many talented 1st round draft picks there to pick up the slack like Joseph A-duh-or Addai, Dallas In-Chains Clark, Reggie's Bruce Wayne, Dwight Night-Night Freeney, etc. The ONLY way to get Andy Luck in 2012 is to experience NO luck in 2011. Has a franchise ever drafted a QB first overall in back to back years? I don't think it's about to happen either. I don't mean this as bad as it's about to sound. It's a really GOOD thing that Cam Sir Isaac Newton isn't the brightest apple in the orchard when it comes to overcoming mental errors. In his case, ignorance has led to poise at crunch time so it all inexplicably works for him. I get the sense his Head Coach has the where-with-all to stay within what he can and cannot do. There's a good running game to work with there and he's got the gun to bring Steve Smith back into existence deep if the running game sets it all up. He seems like he likes football too much for me to see the next Jamarcus Russell. I've certainly been wrong before though.

| INDIANAPOLIS COLTS ON PEYTON MANNING'S STATUS By Indianapolis Colts Posted 1 hour ago Indianapolis Colts Statement on Peyton Manning's Status Indianapolis Colts Statement on Peyton Manning In response to a number of media inquiries, the Colts issue the following update on Peyton Manning’s status. During the last week, the rate of improvement in Peyton’s rehabilitation process slowed. Over the weekend Peyton experienced soreness in his back. It was originally thought to be a normal reaction to his rehabilitation regimen. When the soreness persisted, the Colts medical team decided to initiate diagnostic tests and to consult with a number of specialists around the country who have been involved in Peyton’s case from the outset. That process continues. As a result of the most recent development the doctors have decided that Peyton will not practice. His participation therefore, in Sunday’s game versus Houston will likely be doubtful. We will update his playing status as required by NFL policy as the week goes on. At the conclusion of the diagnostic process, if there are any new developments in the prognosis which we outlined for Peyton at the start of training camp we will report them. As of now Peyton continues to deal with a complicated neurological recovery, the end date of which is unpredictable. As was stated at the outset, it serves no useful purpose to speculate about hypothetical outcomes. When and if there are concrete medical facts to report we will do so. We appreciate your consideration in this matter. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS ON PEYTON MANNING

Well, you know if Manning knew he was going to be out a full season, there was no way in Hell he'd tell the Colts because they were in negotiations for his new, big money contract. If the Colts knew for sure Manning was going to b out a full season, they would have lowballed him then slipped him on the IR with a promise of a big contract next season. Hell, I'm surprised he doesn't need a few back surgeries the way he's been carrying that team forever.

You've seen the rise of Peyton Manning, unfortunately you are possibly and likely seeing his fall. Neck injuries are already incredibly hard to overcome in perfect conditions. His condition is anything but perfect. IF he ends up needing a second surgery that is it for his playing career even if he refuses to accept it. Of the two? The most likely would be the Colts. The Panthers just blw a 2nd on Pickle two drafts ago and wasted their first on what should have been a 6th round project QB so they're out of the running for a few years. The Colts are likely out as well, even with Manning gone they'll win enough games to keep them outa the sweepstakes. Most likely for the Andrew Luck sweepstakes: 49ers, Bungles, Bills and us(Keep in mind we got picks to spare if Colt "boohoo coach didn't coddle me" McCoy isn't the answer to trade up to get Luck). |

To get the overall #1 pick NOW (for a projected TOP QB), you will need to do a crazy Ricky Williams/Mike Ditka type trade IMO.

It won't be the Colts- even with Collins qbing you telling me the Colts aren't good for at least 4 wins? Panthers ain't likely either. Unless Camshaft totally blows, you going to waste two #1 overalls in a row on a qb? don't think so. Now I do like your "most likelys", other than the Browns. The other three are primed for some serious suckage this year. I hope I'm wrong, but I see the Bungles as the most promising to wind up as the winner in the "Luck" sweepstakes. |

Well I certainly hope it isn't the Bungs that's for sure! That'd spell bad news for the AFCN, I hope it isn't the Bills either or 49ers. I'm actually kinda hoping it's either us or Romo sucks it up in Dallas again and they draft him just to laugh at the anger and outrage by 90% of the NFL's fans. Or maybe Seattle, they're in the running too and it'd be cool to see Luck as a Seahawk. |
