Love is a guy who has never been healthy a full season. That's a big concern to me. I'm not saying he's not a difference maker but I kind of like seeing a game-changer play, on average, more than 60 games a season (with his production I suppose that's good...) but do not trade Wiggins for that HELL no.

The one thought I keep coming back to is this. What if he told the Cavs front office these are the guys Id be ok with you trading for Love. If Minn says no, just wait them out. Lebron opts out after the year we sign Love then resign James going over the cap. We get our "Big 3" just one year later and we keep our 3 first rounders and all our young players.
    Makes sense to me.

The more I think about it, the more I am okay with not getting Love. Dealing away depth and Wiggins, which is apparently what it will take, just isn't worth it. He can come here in a year if he really wants, if not, someone else can overpay Minnesota.

I haven't watched Love play enough to know ...but I've heard it said that Love is just the best guy on a lousy team, which is why he puts the numbers up he does. Plus, his defense is lacking.

Yeah, that makes it kind of scary. If it doesn't work out somehow, the salary cap really puts a dagger in our back.

Less of a sure thing than jamming Wade and Bosh next to LBJ.

Cavs now allegedly offering Wiggins, Bennett, Haywood and No. 1 pick for Love.

    Too much IMO

Cleveland Cavaliers now willing to include Wiggins in Kevin Love trade offer

    POSTED: 07/17/14, 3:07 PM EDT | UPDATED: 1 MIN AGO # COMMENTS
Ever since LeBron James returned to Cleveland, talks have intensified for All-Star power forward Kevin Love.
Rumors have surfaced that the Cavaliers wouldn’t include rookie swingman Andrew Wiggins in any possible deal for the Minnesota Timberwolves’ star.
A league source said on July 17 that the Cavs are now willing to trade the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 draft.
Wiggins, a 6-foot-8, 194-pounder, has played well at the Las Vegas Summer League, where he’s become a crowd favorite. The former Kansas star has averaged 13.7 points and 3.0 rebounds in the Cavs’ first three games. However, he’s shooting just 37.8 percent from the field.
Up until this point, it was assumed the Cavs wanted to hang onto Wiggins, largely because of comments made by Coach David Blatt.
However, a source said James wants the 6-10, 250-pound Love on the roster.
And, what James wants, he normally gets.
The thinking is that Wiggins is going to be a very good player, a possible All-Star player, in time. But he’s raw. He’s a long way away from reaching that potential.
Love is an All-Star caliber player now. The union of James, Kyrie Irving and Love could be a championship in the making.
The Cavs are under the gun to win now. James is playing on a two-year contract that includes an out clause after the 2014-15 season if he decides to use it.
The addition of Love could push the Cavs to the top of the Eastern Conference. Without Love, they are still a playoff team, but might fall behind Chicago and Indiana in the East.
The latest offer could include Wiggins, power forward Anthony Bennett and a first-round pick. Center Brendan Haywood might be included in the deal to make it work contractually.
That would be a lot of potential talent heading Minnesota’s way. Bennett was the top overall pick in the 2013 draft and appears to be poised to take a major step in his career. He’s now in top shape and the “stretch 4” appears to have high scoring ability.
The Cavs also would be able to hang onto starting shooting guard Dion Waiters in the latest proposal.
The Golden State Warriors are also attempting to trade for Love, who averaged 26 points and 12 rebounds last year. Up until this point, they wouldn’t include shooting guard Klay Thompson in any possible deal.
Love will make $15.7 million this season. He can become an unrestricted free agent after the 2014-15 season. A deal might be contingent on him agreeing to sign an extension with the Cavs.

TBPP, I disagree about him being a good player on a bad team. I've watched him, and he's phenomenal.

"Love averaged over 26 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists last season, becoming the first player to reach those marks in a season since Hall of Famers Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bob McAdoo in the 1975-76 season."

I've changed my mind. I'd give up Wiggins, but not Bennett or Waiters too.

Way too much. I know Love has amazing stats, but I keep reading how the stats lie about Love. I'll take your word for it though, since I don't watch him play. I was beginning to fall in love with the idea of Wiggins and Lebron both being lock down defenders. I also like the idea of winning without "cheating" the system by stacking the deck with another small markets selfish player, which I know most people would scoff at.

Oh man this is kind of painful for me, it really screams of the "win now desperation bad move" that NFL teams regret 99% of the time

It's both exciting and horrifying at the same time

    ---

I also hope we're not bidding against ourselves

Why do we need to win this trade in July?

Did you see that chasedown block he had in summer league last night. He's going to be fun to watch right away, but not for the stereotypical reasons.

On the plus side, if Bennett and Wiggins get shipped to Minnesota, geographically it's the closest NBA franchise to me. THAT is why Minnesota/Detroit played here for the canada series they did okay I digress... but at least there would be that convenience haha.

It feels like typical pre-season hype but watching the rookies (Wiggins and Caboclo for Toronto) and Bennett has got me hyped for the season.

Watched some of the highlight reels from yesterday's Rockets' game. Wiggins' athletic ability is absolutely pornographic. His dribbling's pretty abysmal, but his movement is gorgeous. Gosh.

EDIT: This relates to Love because obviously.

I wouldn't bother with the trade if the asking price is big. LeBron should inspire the current crops to do better. we should only replace poor/crap players not promising players.

Read that the cavs (alledgedly) offered Wiggins, Bennett and a 1st and the Wolves didn't bite on it.

If they want more than that, fuck that. And fuck that deal too.

Agree, if true ...no dice. In fact, I'm pissed we offered that much.

Another dumb move by the Cavs. I don't follow basketball hardly at all, but the film I saw on Wiggins, he is going to be something special.
