    Yes, makes sense, does't it:

knock a woman out and drag her and get a two game suspension.

Smoke a little bit of marijuana and get an indefinite suspension.

Excellent policy management, Mr. Goodell! Peopl are soon going to start calling for your head. They'll knock you out and get 10 years in prision!

Come on. This goes in the NFL section ...figure it out already.

I can't stand it when a player whines to me or his teammates or his wife or the writers or anyone else.

It's Goodell's hypocrisy that illegally smoking blunts gets a year suspension (possibly) while a violent crime is passively dismissed with a 2 game suspension.

Hell the penal system prides itself by getting violent offenders off the streets and help non-violent offenders be productive in society.

If it looks like bull shit and smells like bull shit. It's bull shit.

I read that Rice's wife directly went to the commish and requested leniency on the suspension. So perhaps having the vicitm come forward carried some weight.. It should not have IMO..but perhaps it's a factor.

The scary part is he was going to drag her lifeless body somewhere and walk away Ray Lewisesque like.

The more I think about it, he probably called Ray Lewis and followed his instructions until a bystander happened upon him dragging her outta the elevator.

At which point Ray Lewis told him the name of a good lawyer and instructed Rice to delete his number from his phone.

Next thing you know he's not even prosecuted for the domestic violence. Hhmmmmm.

It jus ain't right. If that were me caught doing that I'd be out of a job instantly and my supervisor, aka head coach, wouldn't make any kind of announcement on my behalf like Harbaugh did on behalf of the Ravens organization.

The NFL and the Ravens thought this would be swept under the rug, but when the heat kept coming they had to do something and retract what was said and done, and they made up the BS about not seeing that one part of the video. Whatever.

They must've used AO's PR tips and hints.

The NFL got this specific call right, the problem is that the NFL enforcement is an ad hoc mess. If he had beat the kid in Minnesota he could have been charged with a felony, in Texas its a minor misdemeanor. Regardless of the law his actions are were reprehensible.

The NFL is in a tough spot here but the bottom line is sponsors want this to go away, the Vikings aren't going to bring him back (he is poison in Minnesota) and the public is split. I think Peterson is a piece of crap myself and shed no tears for him but the NFL and the players MUST negotiate a clear policy covering player discipline.

    Nobody wins here.

    Never seen them...not
    seen them

the way the media started this talk thought it was a sexual thing.
it is of A opinion of how to discipline ones child.
do you feel you need the Gov to tell everyone how to do so ?
i don't none of my business or anyone else's, you raise yours I'll raise mine.

i have opinions but they should not be laid on you or anyone else.
imo psychological scaring is sometimes worse than the physical.

besides all that......... penalties in the NFL have gone nuts followed this game forever this sort of thing would have in the past has been zero to 2 weeks. not a season.
this goes like.. speeding ticket = 1 year in prison. lol in the change

Yeah I have to agree. There's no defending AP...

    http://www.theroot.com/articles/cult...unishment.html

In 2012, 77 percent of men and 64 percent of women reported that they believed “a good, hard spanking” was sometimes necessary.

The fact that the media knows best is just a farce. be brainwashed if you like. but lack of discipline in homes and schools has lead to a few generations of undisciplined, uneducated citizens who feel entitled, commonly referred to as "the dumbing down of Americans".
    fyi
Here's a picture of what we got in school for being out of line <1960s. did it leave any marks ? hell yes.
Did the teachers have control/our attention in the class room? hell yes.
Over the past decades we have gone from #1 to 18th in the world in education. hmmm

All that said did AP go to far ? he said he did .......good enough for me. also said he was sorry. it's not like he was at a strip club with gun fire resulting in death or maiming.

It's this media lead vigilantism i find distasteful.

its not right to assault a 4yr old.

i'm not sure what age you should get more aggressive when disciplining a child, apart from spanking a kids behind.

Instilling the fear of a good spanking is more effective than flailing away on a youth.(with my six kids anyways)

Do you know what this 4 year old was doing ?

And while, clearly, no one condones child abuse, if Peterson’s statements are to be believed, he seems to love his child. But parenting practices vary widely, and his are being judged by a media and public not known for being skilled in analyzing issues complicated by race, gender, culture or potential implicit (unconscious) racial bias, which most Americans have.
    http://www.theroot.com/articles/cult...unishment.html

Calling a switching a "assault" or child abuse is a lowering of the bar to a all time low. imo
back in the 70s when this "child abuse" term got footing it was broken bones and/or teeth knocked out. that was a wait a minute moment.

Six kids good luck and i mean that sincerely brave you.

I agree "the fear of a good spanking is more should be effective" one would always hope that to be true. there should be no joy spanking a child. a sad thing to do.
