Default Brian Hoyer a Houston Texan

Born in Lakewood went to Saint Ignatius, took his first steps with his new team taking them 87 yd on 8 plays finishing with a 57 yard TD throw to Cecil Shorts and the 2 points after pass to DeAndre Hopkins. coach Bill O'Brien had seen enough to end Brian's night at that.

Our home town boy on his way to winning this new challenge. I for one am going to enjoy the ride as he proves his critics wrong as he leads his team to the playoffs.

    Who's surprised?

Oh that's right, everyone other than the two of us apparently.

I'd go dig up the "Hoyer has zero chance of starting or succeeding in Houston" posts if I cared enough.

I'd like to see Hoyer succeed but it's a shame his time in Cleveland went how it did.

    Default Brian Hoyer

The Winner is you guessed it. had little doubt he would win this job once he was signed.

But Mallet and everyone else in the league is so much better! What a bum.

Look at that noodle arm! Definitely couldnt do anything against 8 in the box. The fastest release in the NFL just doesn't mean shit. Disregard 2013 when he had one of the worst RB situations of all time and the coaching staff abandoned the run, so Hoyer still proceeded to carve up defenses. Just disregard.

    Noodle armed abortion.

Joined a Texans board when they signed Hoyer, only 29% picked him in a poll taken 3 weeks ago. so some sour grapes there. he'll win them over.

It will be bitter sweet watching him putting up W's for someone else. the kid who dreamed of being a Brown all his life and deserved to be for the next few years.

Wonder if Farmer will give them a call to see if Mallett is available ? lol

He will definitely win over Texans fans if they win football games. I think that they will see what he brings to the table on the field and that will help the fandom embrace him.

Im just waiting for the first game that doesnt go well and he says something like...

"Yeah so on that play... I put it right where I was supposed to but.. D-Hop ran the route a little too shallow... and our tackle missed a block so I didnt have time to get it out the way I wanted to.. but yeah, I made a good decision there.. it just happened to be a pick.."

But I digress... I wish him well, he can be our Cleveland ambassador to Texas

    11-7

I'd kill to have a QB with a record like that. And a kid from NE Ohio who had Bernie Kosar posters all over his wall?

That's a dream scenario right there, it'll never happen in Cleveland ...

Dude is #7 in the league right now in passer rating, and putting together an excellent season. O'Brian was a fool for giving up on him so early.

I'm happy for Hoyer. Awesome dude. Very unfortunate his success is coming with the enemy instead of with us. I think he'd have been a great fit for Flip's system.

Agreed BDU, the only reason he's not here is because he was hungry to be a starting QB. He did everything he could last year and yet a strong portion of the fan base still vilifies him, likely because of Manziel IMO.

    Default Texans cut Mallet

The Houston Texans released backup quarterback Ryan Mallet after he missed the team flight to Miami last weekend.
    http://www.kwwl.com/story/30374080/2...ans-cut-mallet
No wonder the Fins put up 41 in the first half.

Well ... we think we got troubles ..we do... but we're not alone. Feel sorry for Brain how unlucky for him. he starts out with the best there is Pats, then the Steelers. Cards look like they are on track, then these past 2 stops. on the bright side he's going to play the next 9 games sure hope the team pulls together.

    Default Texans win 20-6

The defense showed up for some low hanging Mettenberger fruit, ate him up 7 times.they played like most of the fans thought they would really for the first time today. can they repeat that effort ?

Hoyer played ok penalties put him in some holes had 1st 30 once. had a few drops but a great catch by Nate Washington for one of two TD's passes. if they could run the ball at all sure would help 23-56. when Arian Foster is out forget it, guy is a difference maker. he catches the ball well too. bye week. next up @ Cincinnati Monday 16th

This should give Hoyer and his mates well needed rep's. can't wait to see him fire up them Bengals.

Brian improves to 4-2 as a Texan over the Saints 24-6. he was sharp to start the game with some very nice pocket awareness. their D is playing great. was Mallett just holding this team back on both sides of the ball ? it sure looks like it, goes right back to mindset coming on to the field.
next up in what should be a nice watch the Bills.

Hoyer is the doing the same thing for them that he did for the Browns. He is leadin the entire team and bringing them together as one.

Hoyer with a deadly D is going to be hard to stop, even without his star running back.

My God I wish we still had a QB of his caliber.

You know the guy has respect when he's got J.J Watt running over to him on the sidelines to give him props.

162/264 (61.4%) for 1,909 yards with 15 touchdowns to 5 interceptions. 94.4 passer rating. He's also won four of the last five, and is on a three game win streak. In five of eight games, he has recorded a passer rating over 100.

He's only just turned 30. If he keeps this up, I won't be shocked if they stick with him and look to surround him with weapons.
