Default Paul Brown - A Football Life - NFLN this Friday, Nov. 6th

I sure hope it reveres Paul Brown more than it laments the lack of the Cleveland Browns success.

A must watch for sure for us die-hards.

The NFL really owe's it to the League and the Fans...Also the players and coaches who spawned from Browns greatness...And to PB himself.. By making some award.. or museum of his accomplishments... He only brought the game to the modern age.. Spawning greats like... Blanton Collier, Don Shula ,Chuck Knoll , Bill Walsh and many others.

My wife's uncle played for Paul at Ohio State as a DE/LB and visited his training camp once after he left for the Browns. Said Brown was a great man in every respect.

We need way more 'A Football Life' based on the events of the Browns. Cleveland 95 was amazing. There are so many players and figures throughout Browns history that would be compelling viewing for everyone. Really at a loss for words as to why they ignore such stories that could be told.

I'm curious if Modell is, again, somewhat villain-ized. That'd be a shame.

Ain't it the truth! Paul Brown understand the need for balance and you need a good QB and good receivers, too.

Who's Pettine? Didn't Haslam fire him and declare himself the new head coach?

    Tangelo,

I did find two excerpts from the Paul Brown on YouTube for you. Here they are:

The NFL Network one hour program on the 1995 Browns was really something but I couldn't find much on YouTube about it.

Found a link to the full documentary on Youtube. I just watched it. It's very good. Very eye-opening. Paul Brown was a hell of a man and a hell of a coach. And btw, he didn't tolerant drinking/partying from his players (sorry, couldn't resist the easy jab, haha). Anyway, no telling how long this link will be up before it gets taken down, so enjoy!

Watching it right now Tangelo. Good stuff on finding it.

Never knew that slimeball Modell tried to force Ernie Davis into a game for the fans sake when he had leukemia.

Art just seemed like a total scumbag from the get go. It made me angry just watching him on this documentary. I didn't know the Ernie Davis thing either. Just crazy that he'd try to make Paul play him in that condition.

Since someone brought this back up...

Just get DirecTV (or whatever). I did it two years in Cleveland before moving to Phoenix and I haven't looked back. Get whatever it takes to get the NFL Network, unless you prefer having the Lifetime Network... better yet, there are some new Channels called LOGO and VICE, if you prefer that. However, if you prefer the NFL, do what it takes to get the NFL Network! The preseason is upon us, so you'll have to wait for the offseason to see these awesome documentaries.

Modell was a slimeball from the moment he was conceived. OF COURSE he would throw a dying man under the bus to support his unsupportable lifestyle. I prefer to let a dead man RIP, but Modell doesn't deserve that.

    -Al
