Default 2017 Player(s) Who Make the Leap

I seem to remember a thread a year or 2 ago on the subject but couldn't find it. Sorry original OP but who are you predicting/expecting will break out this year?

Randall Telfer and Campbell was a surprise start to me. Nate Orchard too.

Hope he is doing well btw.

After game one of preseason, my list would be BB-C and Orchard. I also think Ogbah will look reborn with a legitimate talent in the opposite end of the line.

Oh I know. Do you put Orchard next to Shelton if he keeps this up?

Over Des Bryant? I don't know but I found the pair of Shelton/Bryant to be underwhelming but Shelton was drawing doubles on virtually every snap..

If both Shelton AND Garrett are consistently demanding double teams, it's going to open things up for the pass rush regardless.

Now, I'd not expect much if any improvement if you were to replace Bryant with Orchard. I think he's too small to be a 4-3 DT.

No way Orchard beats out Ogbah if Ogbah plays like he has.

Orchard is not big enough to play DT.

At this stage, I won't be shocked if Coley overtakes Bryant as soon as the next game.

My second year leap candidates - BBC/Ogbah/Schobert/Kindred.

Admittedly, that's because they've already shown themselves to have taken a leap ahaha.

I think the "starting" designation is going to be overrated this year. I imagine a lot of fluid moving pieces in 3G's defense. You will see a regular swap out along the DL to keep the pass rush fresh along with a moving DB combination. So whether Orchard, Coley start is moot, because I imagine we will see a lot of lot them tagging in throughout the game - which is great!

Cool, so our defensive starting line will be Garrett, Ogbah, Coley, Bryant, Shelton, Ogunjobi, Nassib and Orchard??

I guess the real question is .... can any of them play wide receiver??

On a more serious note, either Meder or Bryant probably isn't going to make this team.

Out side of the DL, I'm liking BBC and Schobert to make the leap.

    Defense.

After years of being ranked at or near the bottom of the league on both sides of the ball, I see a nominal improvement of the offense with the addition of Zeitler from Cincinnati and Tretter from Green Bay, but the offense won't be significantly better until we get a QB. However, I see a possible significant jump on defense already. We still have some work to do with the secondary, but, while our front seven is young, I think it is solid and deep and will only get better in the next couple of years.

If it comes down to Meder and Bryant, my money is on Meder because he's a lot cheaper than Des.

Des is on 2 years, $4.25M. Meder is on 2 years, $1.14M.

Short list - BBC I think he has a future. Orchard IMHO will come around and lastly I have hopes for Nassib.

Both guys are on the last year of deal, but as you noted Bryant is the more expensive of the two, by a bit more then 2M

It appears that Orchard and Nassib will back up Garrett and Ogbah, but there won't be much drop off in production when they cycle in.

Thought I read Garrett was running sprints so he wouldn't have to come out......

Won't be much of a drop off with Orchard and Nassib? LMFAO. Shit last year one of Nassib sacks he was credited with he didn't even touch the QB.

Little bummed at how Bryant's played so far. Hope it's just rust. Also weird that Ogunjobi and Brantley are so clearly behind Coley. But someone's gonna seize that 3-tech spot next to Shelton. Lots of candidates.

Meder looks like a player to me. Somebody's gotta go... could be Bryant. Nassib can also play inside. Xavier Cooper is looking like toast.
