Default Post Week 13 & Playoff Picture Thoughts

What a weeken! Let's get right to it...

#1 Alabama gets absolutely man-handled by then #6 Auburn on The Plains, 26-14. With the win, Auburn moves up to #2 in the CFP rankings; and advances to the SEC Championship game to face #6 UGA. With the loss, Alabama falls to #5, and now needs help this weekend to qualify for the playoffs.

#2 Miami got beat down by unranked, 4-7 Pittsburgh in Heinz Field. With the loss, Miami fell to 11-1 and falls to #7 in the CFP rankings. However, Miami had already clinched their spot in the ACC Championship game where they will face #1 Clemson.

#3 Clemson destroyed rival, then #24 South Carolina 34-10. The Gamecocks didn't run a play in Clemson territory until there was 14:13 left in the 4th quarter; and didn't score a TD until Clemson mass substituted their entire defense. Up next for the Tigers is the ACC Championship game, where they will face the #7 Miami Hurricanes.

#4 Oklahoma made easy work of West Virginia

#5 Wisconsin made easy work of Minnesota

#8 Notre Dame got beat down by Stanford

#9 Ohio State struggled mightily with a a mediocre Michigan squad until finally putting them away in the 4th quarter.

So how does the new playoff picture look and who is still alive?

    1. Clemson Tigers
    2. Auburn Tigers
    3. Oklahoma Sooners
    4. Wisconsin Badgers

    Outside looking in:

    5. Alabama
    6. Georgia
    7. Miami
    8. Ohio State

So what are some potential scenarios:

    If Chalk holds:

    Sugar Bowl:
    #1 Clemson vs #4 Wisconsin

    Rose Bowl:
    2. Auburn vs #3 Oklahoma

What needs to happen for chaos? TCU beats Oklahoma and Ohio State beats Alabama

If that happens, we have a big debate between:
    - TCU: 11-2, Big 12 Champs
    - Oklahoma: 11-2
    - Ohio State: 11-2, Big 10 Champs
    - Alabama: 11-1

    If Ohio State beats Wisconsin?
    - Alabama and Ohio State would battle it out for the #4 spot.

What do I think happens this weekend and the CFP final rankings?

    ACC Championship: Clemson beats Miami

    B1G Championship: 0SU beats Wiscy

Big 12 Championship: Oklahoma beats TCU

    SEC Championship: UGA beats Auburn

    Final Playoff rankings:

    1. Clemson
    2. Oklahoma
    3. UGA
    4. Alabama (earns final spot over 0SU after 0SU knocks out Wisc)

    Sugar Bowl:
    1. Clemson vs 4. Alabama

    Rose Bowl:
    2. Oklahoma vs 3. UGA

    National Championship:
    1. Clemson vs 2. Oklahoma

    National Champion:
    1. Clemson Tigers

    Shocking prediction.

I feel like the committee might use Saban's quote about how teams not winning or even playing in their conference championship should not be allowed in the playoff as a "see, you should just shut up and not question our methodology" moment.

I could also see them trying to push for the potential for an OU-OSU rematch. I'll just be hoping for as much chaos as possible.

    Cleveland autograph count as of 12/12/17: 100 Browns, 185 Indians, 12 Cavs, and 36 Lumberjacks/Barons/Crunch/Force. 333 total.

I predicted Clemson because they are the most complete team in the nation; not because I am a Clemson alumn. I would rather be right than simply pick my team.

Clemson has already beaten Auburn this season; Oklahoma doesn't play defense; UGA is one dimensional; Ohio State is mediocre.

As far as Alabama making the playoff; the committee ranked G5 9-3 Fresno State this week simply to bolster Bama's resume. There is no other explanation. They are ranked 69 in Vegas and 56 is Sagarin...they have no business in the Top 25. That alone tells you they want Bama in the playoff.
