I love those.
I love seeing an outrageous mock draft.
Now, what do I think we should do?
I think our roster now has a solid base of players.
Given that it would take too much to get Winston or a drastic tumble,
I have decided that the Browns may do a curveball-draft.
Now, these picks change drastically after FA, but nevertheless, let 's start.
My main goal in this draft is to continue add players at talent bare positions.
Since those are not so talent bare these days, I 'm thinking, yeah, I can draft BPA.
Now, the focus is on the offense given the fact that was the problem area.
Defense was good enough to win.
Also am going on the premise we add a Knighton or some other NT or Dline run stuffer.
And, Johnny is my franchise guy.
So watch me channel my inner Farmer to give you my first mock.
12th pick
The strategic position of this pick is iffy, as we are just outside of that presumed top tier of talent.
Worry not, as this draft is more deeper than top-heavy, which is becoming an increasing trend.
Three options:
1. TJ Clemmings, T out of Pittsburgh
Embodies all-weather offense, and play-like-a-Brown, resembles Bitonio.
2. DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville
3. Jameis Winston-yep, I 'm a blind man
Always there is an option of trading down
19th pick
This is where I 'm in a limbo position.
This is where I 'm going for that trade down, and I 'm thinking, 5-8 spots lower.
Now I take:
1. Jaelen Strong
2. Ronnie Stanley
3. Alvin Dupree
When the first round is over I see an improved offense.
Either Stanley-Strong gives us a swing tackle with excellent tools plus a big reciever,
or we get at least a solid #2 with Parker paired up with a true mauler.
Winston is a pipe dream, and Dupree is a developmental pass rusher.
We also get a future pick of some kind.
Now, get this.
That would be a 2nd or a 3rd by my calculations.
I 'm making calls to get in that 2nd round.
Using our back end of the draft picks, 5th, 6th and 7th, plus this future.
I 'm guessin we then have the 12th, and it depends who bites on the offer.
Now, I 'm taking guys whom I like.
I 'll just put the prospects that I like in that area.
1)Todd Gurley
I 'm not targeting Gurley in the first given that injury. But I 'm all over him in the 2nd.
2)Benardrick McKinney
An understudy to Dansby, big guy.
3)Maxx Williams
Gronk lite, big and fast. Kelce with lesser blocking would probably be the best comp.
Think his floor is Dustin Keller.
Also a lot of other guys I like, but onward.
3rd round
This is the area where I like Noah Spence or Dorial Green Beckham.
Both all world potential.
Guys who could be impact players.
Yet the investment isn 't that big to be detrimental for a franchise.
4th
This is where I look for a QB.
Garret Grayson. Accurate guy who won 't lose you games.
I traded away the 7th and 5th.
With my 6th, I 'm looking for a developmental safety or the best available kicker.
As for my UDFA tactic, I 'm looking for:
1)Kicking competition
2)Return threats
3)Fullback-Trayion Durham
4)QB-maybe we hit on a damn Brady.
5)Ohio-homer watch, look at the Buckeyes and Ohioans. Guys who want to be in Cleveland.
Cheers,
Ziggy
