2016 Tribe in 1st place

Some of us have been here awhile longer, but it was the Cavs championship season that grabbed the spotlight and rightly so.

The crowds will be small if ownership doesn't get a power bat for this lineup or does nothing significant for a team on the cusp of greatness. Especially after Gilbert just won the championship with virtually unlimited spending. Dan Gilbert said so himself when he said you have to spend money to win. (Paraphrasing) The gauntlet has been laid putting the Browns and Tribe squarely on notice.

Indians haven't lost since the Cavs were crowned NBA Champs

Think these 25 guys are hungry for a parade of their own??

Heroic effort last night from everyone. None of the pitchers wanted to be the guy to end the streak and it showed in their performance.

Our next Homestand better average 35k in attendance.
City is still ebullient and enthusiastic after the Cavs win and they need to get used to cheering for winners

Go Tribe

When Donaldson hit that drive to the warning track you could see Bauer thought it was out and he was visibly pissed...then relieved when it was caught.

The attendance will improve, but I'm not sure how much. It'll be interesting to see, but there's always a +crowd for the Yankees.

First off, Napoli is the RH Power we have wanted for a while. Secondly, you don't need a 40 HR guy to win. The Royals won the world series last year and they had three players that hit just over 20 homeruns. Right now, the Indians have Santana and Napoli that will end the season closer to 25-30 Homeruns. Kipnis and Lindor both will hit 15-20 homeruns. That's more than enough and this team is successful because of their pitching and defense. You can't trade for Jay Bruce because he is absolutely awful defensively. This streak probably wouldn't exist if he was on the team, that's how many runs he gives up because of his defense.

We really just need another bullpen piece. Andrew Miller from the Yanks, if Sean Doolittle is healthy by the deadline, we just need somebody more reliable than Bryan Shaw.

I'm not arguing who we should get, but that ownership is lame/cheap. If they wanted attendance to increase to phenomenal proportions add some players to this lineup. And we could use some bullpen help too. Get some help in both areas and attendance will max out.

I'd still get a true RH #4 if possible and/or a lefty specialist for the pen. Hell we could do OK to add a catcher as neither of those guys are doing shit at the plate. I like Gomes handling of the staff though.

I'm not worried about getting a catcher. Giminez is responsible for Bauer's turnaround. Gomes and Giminez are great defensive catchers and are terrific at calling the game. There aren't many Buster Posey and Salvador Perez's out there.

And yes, Id like another RH OF bat, but there is no need to give up the farm. I'd be interested in seeing if Arizona wants to get out of the contract for Yasmany Tomas. He is destroying LHP this season. Brandon Guyer is another option that probably wouldn't cost that much in prospects but is killing LHP. Even Jeff Francoeur would be incredibly cheap to get and is hitting over .300 vs LHP.

Interesting you said we could get Francoeur cheap cause that's right up Dolan's alley and Guyer too. I don't think giving up the farm is the right thing to do either, but possibly breaking off a piece for a playoff run would be tolerable.

Well there's nothing worse than trading a lot of valuable farm assets in order to make a playoff run only to come up short as the Jays did. It got our last GM fired. Now Shapiro has built an okay team but I don't think the Jays will make the post-season this year unless we get really hot.

They're still a good team that'll fight for a playoff spot to the end. It's better than a bunch of teams that are essentially in an extended exhibition season, seeing if guys can play at this level then adding some AAA guys later to prep them for next season.

You know. The usual position the Indians are in. ;)

Cookie's pitching tonight! And Brantley is getting back to good! Go Tribe!!

4-RIP top of the 5th. This game is over. I'm starting to think a LH bullpen specialist guy might be the best way to go right now Donnie.

We need both. I'd be interested in seeing what Tampa would want for Drew Smyly. Sure his numbers are awful this year, but that's as a starter. Put him in the pen and let him throw even harder. He would also be a good backup if a starter gets injured and I'd be interested to see what Callaway could do to fix Smyly. On top of that, get Brandon Guyer at the same time. That fixes both issues and really shouldn't cost a ton in terms of prospects.

Another relief option could be Andrew Miller though honestly I'd rather he be closer than Allen.

We need this game to keep up. This is 6 or 7 game lead isn't a lock to win the division as we still have plenty of season to go.

2 out of 3 again on the road. Against the champs too. Go Cookie! Go Cookie! Go Cookie!

Next up the Orioles.

Reasons why Indians are heading to the World Series

I think we all see that this team is special (and this is without, arguably, our best hitter) and is going to remain so for a long time.

The reason the Indians are going all the way is pretty simple

- We have the best rotation in baseball
1 through 5 we expect 7 innings and 3 or fewer runs allowed. It's almost routine

- We have the third best offense in the AL
Clutch hitting, 5th in home runs, excellent base running and a very well-balanced lineup helped out by some comeback player performances from guys like Napoli and Davis.

- We have the best road record in baseball
And it's by quite a margin. The only team with 30 wins away from home.

- Best run differential in the AL (4th best in baseball)

- We have the largest lead of any first place team
And in what was seen prior to the season to be one of the more competitive divisions in baseball (which contains the current champs and a couple of £120m+ payrolls - Detroit's is £173m)
Cleveland, on the other hand, has the 3rd lowest in the AL.

- We have conceded the fewest runs in the AL
Yeah, that rotation has been tasty, but there is one weakness in this squad and that is in the bullpen (and now catcher).
I hear Indians are in for Miller/Chapman and LuCroy to fill those voids.

- We have an excellent manager (2-time champ) and coaching staff

- We have some of the games best young players/performers (before we start getting too overly excited)
Lindor, JRam and Naquin, play and behave as if they are seasoned vets with nothing to prove. Salazar, Carrasco and Bauer are among the best young arms. Hell the first two could be aces on some staffs. Oh, and we also have a Cy Young winner.

I would consider it a failure to not at least make it to the Fall Classic this season (I would say it's a failure not to win the whole thing if the core of team wasn't so young).

So yeah, start placing your bets on the 2 of the 3 major sports titles returning to Cleveland for 2016.

Losing 3 in a row to Bmore kinda sucks too.

I can understand Bauer having a bad game as I do for Tomlin. But Allen blew this last game and I don't have the confidence in him that some may have. I think we're 15 games above 500, so outside of that 14 game win streak we're an average ball club?!

I think we need an addition or two to really put us over the top. Can anyone say Andy Miller? He can close or set up.

LaCroy to boot would be phenomenal.

I think the trade rumors are having a negative effect right now. They all look distracted.
