Best FA RBs available?

While everyone seems to be pining for Texans RB Ben Tate or soon Darren Sproles, here is my choice for the best RB available at possibly a much more affordable price:

Toby Gerhart age 26 -- Minnesota Vikings -- He doesn't get many carries because of who is ahead of him in the depth chart. But when he does carry the ball, he gets them in big chunks, averaging 4.7 yards for his career. In 2011 when Adrian Peterson played in only 12 games, Gerhart ran the ball 109 times for 531 yards for a 4.9-yards/rush avg. He also caught the ball 23 times for 190 yards. Gerhart didn't fumble once in 2011.

Who's your favorite or sleeper FA RB?

I like Gerhart but he reminds me a bit of a Touchdown Tommy Vardell. Can't seem to help it: White guys without much wiggle, etc.

If the Browns sign a RB, they're all gonna be pretty cheap. Donald Brown is a one-cut runner, perfect for the ZB scheme, and a good receiver. We'd still draft a back but not as high. Brown, Lewis, Baker, and a rook sounds about right.

I could also live with Brown. http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/12489/donald-brown It would be ironic if Donald Brown produced more for Cleveland here on out than T-Rich produces for Indy.

Except Gerhart has actually performed at the pro level. Vardell's best year was 1993 -- 3.8 yards/carry and a total 644 yards. Besides, these guys have more FB bodies and Vardell should have been used more as a FB, IMHO. Physically and running style-wise, he reminded more of a Tom Rathman or Mike Alstott. Why they ran plays for Vardell to the outside and Metcalf up the middle was befuddling.

Oh, and for a dose of how pre-draft gloss doesn't result in post-draft reality....

Touchdown Tommy
Stanford fullback Tommy Vardell, a likely Top 10 NFL draft pick, sounds almost too good to be true

I'd be all for Brown or Gerhart, then drafting someone to pair with them. Don't want to spend the money on Tate. Moreno, depends on his asking price. He did very well last year, but with Peyton Manning. Sproles is more of a luxury since he's so pass/draw exclusive.
