Could he be bad for NFL Quarterbacks $$$$ ?

My thought is in the same vein as NFL running backs. most have little value these days. if Jackson is the future of the position, we know this will not last for 10 years. lucky if 5 years. about the time players get the Big $$$$ deals.

So is the future low paid QB's ?

It always comes off as some bullshit denial of his talent, but I wouldn't trade Mayfield for Jackson. Wouldn't even need to think about it.

He is in the perfect situation, from team surrounding him to his OC. He's going to lose his OC unless they fire Harbaugh, which they won't. He's going to lose the team around him as everyone else starts getting paid or retiring. I mean, he alone will be going from like 2.something per year to north of $35M per year sooner or later.

I view Jackson as being in the perfect situation but a very limited window. How he'll go moving forward? Who knows. Maybe he's just exceptional. Maybe the offense isn't a big deal. Maybe they'll stack great drafts.

What I do know is that, right now, I think Lamar Jackson is a very dependent quarterback. That won't move the dial for the NFL - the goal is still a 15+ year pocket passer who can adapt to any situation and elevate all personnel around him.

With all due respect, I'm not sure Lamar Jackson is that.

Great topic.
It might be more a ‘strike while the iron is hot’ type of situation.

A lot of factors have to be in place for this to succeed.

If jackson can be an efficient pocket passer he can be great. At least as good a passer as say Andy Dalton or in that vicinity. At that point he's every bit a competent NFL QB.

His running ability is the centerpiece of his game, but he's still a solid thrower. He can scramble for tons of yardage so defensive linemen really have to walk the OLineman up into jackson and be deliberate about it which means DB's have to cover extraordinarily well for a longer time.

IF he can be accurate and make the proper reads.

Unicorn

I see him winning MVP if the next 6 games go as what we've seen so far. but this can't go on for for years & years, he will get hurt. it will likely happen in division play. as next training camp all teams in the north will prepare for him like never before. they must do so.

Yet the analytical guys might see this running QB as a $$ saver. as the model is there with low pay = young Russell Wilson type.

QB is hard enough to play as it is. so enjoy the Unicorn now.

Ravens are well aware of what happens to running QBs.

they emphasize don't-take-hits but when you're young sometimes you just want to get physical.
his passing game is hugely improved.
biggest weakness is lack of proven receiver. they drafted Brown and Boykin and have Snead and one or two other guys.
they drafted Breshard Perriman in the first round but gave up on him. now he's lighting up in Tampa.
Ravens have always had trouble developing WRs. among their best were imports (Derrick Mason, Anquan Boldin, Steve Smith). Torrey Smith had some good games.
if Brown and Boykin can develop the Ravens O will be super scary.

Hype Train Wreck

Titans... will the talking heads speak kindly of their winning ?
this past week it was all about the Pats losing.

So much for the Favorite Ravens bye bye

Ravens fans last night got to experience what our home opener was.

Supposed to be a coming out party against the Titans. it became a dumpster fire rather fast

For three weeks in a row, the narrative is going to be "The Titans cant/wont/shouldn't win this game" and man I'm really rooting for them.

That being said, Mahomes is just insane and I find it very hard to root against him after yesterday.

Fuck lol

Precision passing displayed by Lamar lol.

I realize that that's just some sort of pro bowl contest thing. But I would think if teams are smart they would just stack the box against him going forward

The teams that actually hit the QB will do better against b'more. Unlike that Pat Mahomes run into the end zone along the sideline and all the defenders were afraid to crush him for fear of a penalty.

And those bullshit announcers calling it like some sort of spectacular run by a QB. :tsk::tsk::tsk:

I saw the DLineman basically escorting him and the safety dive into his general direction from two yards away at the goal line. Holy shit that was a gutless attempt.

Imagine if Jack Tatum were the SS coming over and had a shot at Mahomes. He'd still have ringing in his ears and there would be no flag as the QB is a runner...unless the QB is a Browns QB per the refs.

Are we watching a TV show ?

Had the Pro Bowl on for a few minutes. Looked kinda like a Broadway production...Acting

Was Bounty Gate the somewhat end of a era ?

With all Fraternization via Social media etc. It's just harder to put the hurting on your friends.

There may be something to that MMW.

More and more the league is buddy buddy with each other. Watching the NFL today, particularly that Mahomes TD scramble looked, dare I say, fixed?! And the announcers insulted my football IQ when they gushed how great of a play that was.

I changed the channel after that bullshit. It's amazing to me how the game has become so soft, cluttered with bad execution and sub standard rule interpretation by referees. EVEN AFTER REPLAYS FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!

:wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf:
