Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has long admired the game of Von Miller, and the two Texas A&M University products talked tricks of the trade Thursday night with other NFL pass rushers.
Garrett is among the players who participated in Miller’s fourth annual Pass Rush Summit.
An eight-time Pro Bowler with the Denver Broncos, Miller has gathered defenders in recent years to polish pass-rushing techniques on practice fields, but his 2020 summit was limited to film study and discussion in a virtual format due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I want to give a Huge Thank You ! To everyone involved in today’s Pass Rush Summit. It was truly an honor,” Miller wrote on Twitter. “Hope you guys enjoyed it and were able to learn something because I sure did. Thank you guys!”
Khalil Mack, Shaquil Barrett, Bradley Chubb, Chandler Jones, DeForest Buckner, Arik Armstead, Cameron Jordan and Calais Campbell were included in the virtual get-together, which Miller opened to other pro and college players for observation.

Awesome learning during the @VonMiller pass rush summit. Thanks @chucksmithnfl and all the other panelist!
Garrett’s best friend on the Browns, defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi attended Miller’s 2019 summit in Las Vegas.
The No. 1 overall draft pick in 2017, Garrett continues to chase his stated goal to become the NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He had 10 sacks through 10 games last season, when the NFL suspended him for the final six games after he hit Mason Rudolph over the head with the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback’s helmet on Nov. 14.
A day after the NFL reinstated Garrett in February, he told ESPN he’s motivated to bounce back after the way last season ended.
“I have something to prove,” Garrett said. “I know I left off with a bad taste in my mouth not only because of that incident, because the tear that I was on defensively and how well we were doing, so I know that I’m going to be extra excited to come back out there and perform very well.”
Garrett, 24, has compiled 30.5 sacks in 37 career games. He’s under contract with the Browns for the next two seasons after new General Manager Andrew Berry exercised the fifth-year option on Garrett’s rookie contract in April. But Garrett could receive a long-term extension this offseason, something his camp and the Browns have been discussing for at least a month.
“I pay attention to Myles Garrett a lot,” Miller said in 2018 during a conference call with Browns beat writers. “He’s an Aggie. I followed his college career. I’m following his pro career, too. He’s a man among boys out there. He’s bigger than the tackles. He’s quicker than the tackles. He’s just a beast. He’s going to have a long, healthy, sack-filled career.
“He’s very quick off the ball for his size. He’s bigger than the tackles. He’s able to dip and lean. He has the lean and ability to get down low on the tackles. If he gets a good jump and he leans — and he can pretty much do every pass rush move in there — it’s pretty much over for the tackle. Even if he doesn’t get a great jump, it’s hard. When he gets the jump on the ball, it’s over.”
He is also currently in contract negotiations...which is a good sign.
