This a guy a lot of people on this forum peg as a reciever we should get.

Cutups watched:

2014-Miami, UNC, Virginia Tech
2015-Louisville, Syracuse, Miami, UNC, Iowa

Measureables and age:
Junior
H:6 ft 2
W: 185
Projected 40: Seen all of them to be somewhere in 4.4 range

I 'll use the Good, the Bad and the Ugly format.

Good
Twitchy athlete. Very smooth acceleration and speed.
When concentrated and using his hands, catches usually well.
Knows how to get open, especially over the middle.
Does show an understanding of double moves, and using them, can beat defenders.

Very versatile.
Can line up in the backfield, can take drags and is useful on end arounds.
Has vision and will carve up a defense.
Was used frequently, no doubting his stamina or value.
Can make the spectacular catch from time to time.

Bad
Does tend to drop some.
Isn 't a physical, "my ball" type of guy. Not an explosive leaper or a wide radius guy.
On the lighter side, even a bit too light for me, though weight doesn 't concern me.
Not overly explosive, both speed and acceleration wise.

Ugly
Does seem to pace himself(attribute that to the workload), and doesn 't box out DBs when he can 't make the catch.

Grade: 2nd-3rd rounder

Projection and ceilling:
This is a guy who could reward you with being a great #2.
Maybe even a lower end #1, used similar to Antonio Brown in Pittsburgh.
Think with the right coach he can be a consistent contributor for every team, right out of the gate.
He probably won 't bust out, because there are a lot of things that he does well.

P.S. it 's hard to do this with Telltale Games 's GOT in the background.

Those negatives are pretty big negatives IMO...

I don't "get" that list of negatives.
Boyd is explosive --- very much so. Cro contradicts #1 on his "GOOD" list.

Boyd has a possession WR game, but also a 'going deep' game. He's going to be lethal on double moves in the NFL.
He is aggressive and attacks in the air like the ball is HIS possession - like "It's MINE!"

His biggest knock from scouts has been dropping a few.
He played with a woeful QB with a pop-gun weak arm.

I haven't read a couple pieces of the criticism Cro lists ANYWHERE else.

Boyd is near the top options for me at #32 - an impact WR... should be top 10 thru his prime and maybe within 3 yrs.

First off, the explosiveness.
He does not display WOW explosiveness, neither in the Redzone nor between the 20s.
Explosive in college and explosive in the NFL aren 't the same.
Again, due to the volume of usage, I might have gotten a wrong impression.

He is laterally agile, and does now how to use that.
However the transfer of power after a move, indicative of great explosion, isn 't there, he does not make a move and go the distance.
I might be wrong, however, that 's no crime.

I 'd agree on the next premise, that he has more of a possesion WR game, and a bit of going deep game.
In the sense of a deep threat at the NFL level though, I don 't think he can win with blazing speed(does not have it) or strength(same).
The same I say Redzone wise. He can win here and there, but so can almost every draftable 6' 2" reciever in recent memory.

The consistency with which you beat your opponent is also a factor.
Boyd is not a consistent winner on contested catches in the Redzone.

Dropping balls because of weak-armed QB is not a good thing, I assure you.
WTF is he going to do if we draft a Wentz, Lynch, Cardale? How is he going to catch missiles?

You 've come to the right place my friend. Eye-opening stuff right there.

I 'm of the opinion that our #32 pick is a bit high, and our next pick a bit too far.

The good, bad, ugly format focuses on the negatives of player, thus why our perception of a player is somewhat flawed.
I think most underrate prospects because of the format, and I think you 've come into this exact trap.
I 'd not grade him 2nd/3rd round if I wasn 't sure he 's really good.
Being good though doesn 't cut it at the next level.

I honestly see a guy who can win in many ways at the next level.
I just don 't see a consistent, dominant winner.
A guy you can develop into a much better player for sure.
But I don 't think your estimation is ok, I kinda think it 's a bit off.
I can see him as a 15-25 reciever in the NFL. With the outside shot of having a top 10 season(8,9,10) in a while.
