Yea. In my opinion Johnny really hasn't been given a fair opportunity to be successful. I think that it's pretty inexcusable not to play him the rest of this season to at least evaluate him with live game reps. It's likely that the coaching staff just doesn't think Johnny is any good. And if that's the case, then ok. But I sure hope they at least hold themselves accountable for drafting him to begin with and how poorly they have handled him this season. Don't get me wrong, Johnny doesn't deserve benefit of the doubt anymore with all of his off the field crap, but there is really no reason not to play him right now.

At this point though, let's be honest. It doesn't matter. None of this matters. The entire rest of this season is completely meaningless. We aren't playing for a playoff spot. We aren't developing anybody worth a damn. We're just here...floating along waiting to get to the end of the season. We will be no better off at the end of this season than we were going into it and that is a shame. Johnny will be gone and we'll start again with another QB, or in all likelihood, Austin Davis will take the reigns next season. They didn't extend his contract for nothing.

I read the Adkins article and the MK article, I gotta aide with Tangelo. All indication is as LA and MK are saying, this staff has no plans for Manziere after this season. Makes me think Pettine just might be winning the power struggle and about to possibly get roster control after the season. Johnny is gone after this year.

Couple of conditions, but if they laid out as follows the Pettine-is-winning-the-power-struggle thing could be in play:
If Farmer was the source behind drafting Manziel...
If the Browns coaching staff has determined Manziel isn't the answer...
If the coaching staff (Pettine) has Haslam aligned to these "facts"

This would surely make Farmer's talent decisions look really, really poor. Pettine could play up the "Hey man, I played the hand I was dealt. I wasn't given very good cards" thing.

I hate all this, but that isn't overly far-fetched I guess.

At this point.. It doesn't matter Haslam,Farmer and Pettine are all buffoons , and really need to leave Cleveland like yesterday.

Basically the story goes Farmer wanted and got Johnny, Pettine didn't and does not want him among several others on the team, hence why he is riding the pine and there is a power struggle. It is anyone's guess who is winning or will win the power struggle, if I had to guess Pettine will get benefit of the doubt and win it meaning Famer and Johnny Alcoholic will both be down the road and Pettine will for better or worse get more time. That or Farmer gets stripped of quite a bit of power and Pettine gets more.

Sounds plausible. Another possibility is that Haslam is waiting for the bye to announce that he is elevating DeFillippo to HC with instructions to play the kids more.

You huys do realize that Haslam farmer and scheiner hang out like 24/7.. and Farmer has taken shots for jimmy on 2 occasions right?

I hate to say it folks but politics always wins.

Farmer is staying. . Pettine is gone.

PGL, you haven't said or reported anything in over a year that does not in some almost direct way support Manziel. Love ya bro. ;)

We just gotta face it. The Browns are done with Johnny. They would rather play a hobbled Josh McCown than give Johnny a shot to go out there. Forget Johnny. Get him out of your hearts, out of your heads, out of your minds. He is D-O-N-E DONE on this team. The Browns don't believe in him and that's it. I truly believe that after everything I have seen transpire this season, and especially over the last few weeks.

Just because Manziel went to Texas to drink and party with the high IQ sorority girls instead of bearing down on the film study for the Steelers disqualifies him as a serious QB in the minds of a football team? Wow! LOL!

I think DeFlip needs a little more seasoning as an OC. But I do predict he will be a head coach one day.

I expect Pettine to be here through the end of the year.

So, with things leaning towards a Manziel start (btw, just come out and say McCown has broken ribs already), is this THE make-or-break start of Manziel's Browns career?

It kind of feels like it.

*sigh* rumor and speculation which can only be found on "insider" pages being reported as what is going on....If there was some truth to these, you really think the free media wouldn't already be reporting too, including local?

Manzeil is probable. Ever wonder if that elbow is still a concern?

If we don't start Manziel....

...I am flying across the pond and fucking some shit up

No excuse not to. Season is over, McCown is ancient and not the future, we still don't know what we have in Johnny.

Do it Pettine!

Austin Davis gets no discussion on this board. He should. He's not bad.

Hey, maybe one day Browns fans can have a fan favorite that isn't a lineman? That's all we're asking for is a fan favorite. Remember the drunk guy with the Johnny shirt on? He was ridiculed; he probably lost his job. So, what the hell already? There's too much I have to be careful already with this coach. Enough.

The problem is I think we might know what we have... An argunent can be made Johnny hasn't shown very much.

I have to really disagree with that..

If you haven't seen how much he has improved as a player in his last two games getting only 4 starts this far into his career while running "SCOUT TEAM REPS" as well as being benched over and over again w/ practically no freaking receivers or an O-line that is unable to block he has done enough to EARN the starting QB job atleast for the rest of the season.

That is my personal opinion..I don't why all the Browns fans can "TRUST" this shitty coaching staff's judgement on anything especially on the most important position in the NFL which is the QB.

Actually, how about this an argument could be made that Browns OFFICIALLY SUCK at developing younger players that they draft especially QB's..I won't even trust anything this coaching staff has to say about any player IMO. It is not the players anymore, it has been the HC, DC, GM who stink and have no freaking idea on how to develop a QB. Once again we don't have a freaking Rodgers or Brady ahead of the young QB you drafted in the 1st round. If the HC hates him, then trade him. Enough is enough.

Let's see who is the next QB that the Browns draft but end up ruining him and his career.
