Bernie on WKRN now | Barking Hard

Bernie on WKRN now

* Bernie says he first needs to figure out what the Browns are doing offensively before he can comment. But notes the drops and lack of offensive prodution is rediculous.

* Noted on D yesterday Kam being out sick and Rogers being under the weather (didn't realize he was), really hurt them, since they are the play makers.

* D does not have enough guys making plays.

* Bernie thinks Quinn is in a tough spot. He's happy that Quinn is unhappy, as that's what you want out of a real player. It means he wants to play.

* Noted being a home town player is really tough, because it makes for extra distractions. He notes this from first had experience.

* Non-Browns related, Bernie noted he just learned that Pryor is not allowed to change plays at the line, and they force him to run the play called, regardless of what the D is showing.

* Dodged the question about whether Quinn will be traded.

That was about it.

Thanks for the summary. I'd rep you again but I can't so soon, lol.

Bernie always skates around the questions, and now he will even more because of his job with the team.

All I have to say is that if Mangini doesn't trade Quinn before the deadline then he is a retard.

Sorry, figured everyone could google WKNR coffee

Sorry,
Im a lazy computer illiterate bastard:D

This makes me believe that Bernie will be involved with the QB's and who better and Quinn will benefit from his tutelage I hope he can make a difference so we dont have to look for a QB in the early rounds this offseason.

My take on it, as he explained the parts that make it tough, is that Bernie seemed to think Quinn would be better off w/ a change of scenery.

Thanks Masters. Summary is even better on a busy Monday morning.

I'm just glad he didn't pump up Anderson again.

Can we clone Drew Brees? He and T. Brady played out of their skull yesterday. Brees seem to put up 40+ every week. I'll say it again, with L.T. running for 1600+ yards/season, Brees' first two years were statistically average with QB ratings in the low 60's.

Brees those first few years in SD was still learning and growing as a player (and physically as well). He was actually playing really good his last year there. I think the going away from Brees was one of the many riffs between Marty and AJ Smith.

I have to point out Bernies maturation was greatly helped by the fact that his first season under center we had dual 1000 yd rushers in Mack and Byner, kinda takes the pressure off and allows you to grow with a backfield like that.

Just because Kosar dodged doesn't mean Quinn will be traded. For all we know Derek could be the one traded. That would really bake everyones noodle wouldn't it! lol

It sounds as if Bernie is positive on Quinn, and could be ready to help develop him

This is one thing I never brought up but am in 100% agreement with Bernie on. I am GLAD Quinn is pissed, unhappy, and thinks he got screwed. It shows he thinks he can play and wants to get better. and since we haven't heard about him being some kind of distraction he's being professional about it. I wouldn't want a QB who just sat back and said "oh well it's a coaches decision" and wasn't upset about it.

Will Quinn get another chance here? It seems less and less likely. But I just agree on this one point.

Right there w/ you. It may not translate to anything on the field. But that is the competive part you want from any NFL player, as well as the handling of the situation (I mean really he is handling it the same way Cribbs is handling his situation).

In the end, reading between the lines of Bernie's comments, it sounded more like he sees a future for Quinn, just not in CLE.

Except Cribbs hasn't put his house on the market. ;)

I'm not trying to give you all a hard time but at this point, I'm ready for Quinn to be gone. Yes, I still believe he is better than DA. And I still believe he will have major impact to some organization, but I no longer believe that organization is ours.

Up until the house sale thing, I would have agreed that Quinn was doing everything 'right' by the organization. But that seemed to force some hands (and opinions).

LOL see I was more against Quinn with the shoe thing. not the house.

The house was likely a financial decision, not some move to forcer them to trade him. Remember, he bought that house to be close to Scherer who is gone. It's a huge house with a large mortgage, and he likely has to hire a lot of people to keep it up. He's a bachelor, he's not gonna get his escalators likely, and even he's not sure of his future there.

To me, it was a smart move on his part to get out from under any debt, and leave his options open for the future.

I see your point Hiwaygal. I fully agree Quinn's days in CLE are done, and it's best for all parties (Quinn, Browns, and fans) for them to move on (i.e. trade him). It's obvious the staff does not see him in their future.

As to the house sale, I am "eh" about that. It could be for the reasons he mentioned. It could be because he knows he won't be here next year (not like houses at that price sell quickly in this enconomy, so you got to start early). I could point to some Cribbs comments and say he is forcing the organizations hand in a similar manor.

In the end, to me, both guys have kept their mouths shut to the media, which is handling it the right way, for the most part.
