PFW: Browns Give Banta-Cain Leverage

PFW says the Browns are after him and would make him an instant full-time starter. Assumption was he'd resign with New England (must be a money thing), but this gives him leverage.

How old is he?

Why would he willfully make the decision to come here? Not like we have a shot at the SB this year, he probably has a TON of teams breathing down his neck

on the other hand, there is a reason he was released

He's 29, not old. He'd be better than anybody we have opposite Wimbley by a long way (we're starting a lifetime special teamer).

He'd come to Cleveland for more money and a full-time starting job... if he'd come. The sell would be, "You'll start next season and we'll have one less position to worry about."

Not sure he's a credible full-time starter. He has a reputation for being weak against the run.

Even if we sign him - which I hope we do - I'd prefer to see someone drafted to replace him.
