Here's one of the mocks out there. CBS Sports:

2. Cleveland Browns: Drew Allar, QB, Penn State

Speaking of: Allar was much improved in 2024 under the direction of a new offensive coordinator. The former 5-star recruit has a strong arm and is more of a traditional pocket passer. He's from Medina, Ohio, and is used to the elements up north, so this would be a neat pick for a Cleveland Browns franchise that went for the best player available in Thursday's first round of the 2025 NFL Draft (Travis Hunter) but will need to start over again at QB next year.

8. Cleveland Browns: Malachi Fields, WR, Notre Dame

Surprised? Fields is of the most impressive players I've watched this offseason who I had scant idea existed a few months ago. Fields, who transfers to Notre Dame trom Virginia, is a huge receiver is built more like a tight end that can not only stretch you vertically but also catch the five-yard hitches and break arm tackles for huge chunks. He's a D.K. Metcalf starter kit and is my top wide receiver in the draft. He goes here to a Cleveland team that can pair its new QB with a new weapon.

Honestly the more I think about it, irregardless of Jimmy smartens up and finally moves on from Berry and his puppet master or not, if I am the Browns, the next season goes like this:

Everything is about THIS draft. All of it. Yes, tank for Allar.

Spend the season treating it as if it is a developmental season. Focus on getting really, really good at running the ball, really, really good at running two TE sets. Work the FA cuts coming up. Work the trade wire. Get this team to where we are losing plays by field goals and single scores throughout the season. Develop Sanders and if Sanders doesn't meet the hype he has, develop him enough to look good enough you put him out there for the tail end of the season to dangle to another team for draft picks. Focus on what FA's are coming out next off season and what holes you need to field.

In other words, take a single season to take a temporary step back to develop the cockpit for Allar and hopefully Fields as well. Build the offense so well it is two players away from being top 5. Work on the Defense so it is close to being Top 10 and a few players away from being Top 10.

Next year fill some of those holes in FA, followed by drafting Drew Allar, a #1 WR and watch Cleveland return to being a perennial playoff team finally.

Dane Brugler from the The Athletic:

5. Cleveland Browns: Drew Allar, QB, Penn State

Had Allar declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, he might have been the No. 2 pick (to his hometown Cleveland Browns). But he returned to school to further his development. If he continues to improve, he will be in the top-five conversation next April.

9. Cleveland Browns (from JAX): Austin Barber, OT, Florida

A good-looking athlete at 6-6, 315, Barber shows off his range on pulls and climbs, and he is able to torque defenders off balance once he latches. He could interest a team such as the Browns, who have long-term question marks at left and right tackle.
