I'm seriously digging Dorsey's approach so far

Just an epic draft that's gonna look better and better. Following up with another strong one should complete this team, including improving depth (mostly on defense).

We have way more assets, money and picks, than needs. Tipping point that allows us to build depth with 4ths and 5ths (even thirds). I doubt we'll have more than a few new starters... and we'll have signed a few high end free agents before the draft. MAYBE the first two picks are expected to start but it could be just the one, depending on free agency.

I could see a new 3-tech, a new WR, and a new OL.

And we still have a ton of cold hard greenbacks. Spotrac has us currently at #1 in cap space, and Tyrod will be gonzo, and who do we need to extend? Might be time to move on from Jamie Collins too. Tyrod + Jamie is 20+ million.

Come January, not all of Dorsey's moves will be gold from this year, or here for the fall of 2019 by contract design. Let the fine tuning commence.

I'm gonna miss GGG though. Bet me moves on. Turned our D into a turnover monster in 1 year.
 
I like 3G a ton as a DC, but a new HC means he ain't coming back unless the new HC loves 3G a ton back and is willing to give him a ton of space/influence in the organization.

Here’s the thing, our fan base is insane.

The fact that it’s fan-voted, we suck, and have sucked since last century, AND STILL are out there voting for anything Browns is a testament to incredibly admirable loyalty.

I used to think it was only us die-hards on a fan board here and there, but clearly it’s more than that.

It’s kind of like the old Cubs fan base (before they became annoying and won some - lol).

The best team he has built so far is in the front office:
Highsmith and Wolf. Retaining Berry and finding something positive for Moneyball all look like good decisions so far.

Unlike Hue, JD seems clever enough to surround himself with intelligent, high performing people and not be intimidated by it. He isn't doing it alone, just orchestrating it.

Sometimes I kinda wish that Sashi could've stayed but in a lesser role.

He didn't really know how to spot talent but, he knew how to win the deal.

My biggest concerns with Dorsey so far are how effective will the new HC be and how effective will

Dorsey be after the stock pile of draft picks that Sashi left behind are all used up.

Whenever I encounter Browns fans in the wild, they want a reason to believe, they want to cheer and a lot of us are just beaten down.

Baker's the closest thing to a ray of hope that we've ever had (reboot era).

I believe we will be alright.

This FO knows how to spot talent and prioritize positions of need. With the base acquired through the war chest Sashi left behind, it isn't going to require full blown re-builds every year moving forward. We won't need 35 new players every season.
Can they manage salaries? that I don't know but I expect Buddy-Boy is smart enough to stay out of those conversations.

5 "hits" from this past spring, and Corbett could make 6.

1st Round (#1): QB Baker Mayfield - ROTY candidate
1st Round (#4): CB Denzel Ward - ROTY candidate
2nd Round (#33): OL Austin Corbett - more of a traditional draft hope, but a solid interior OL back up
2nd Round (#35): RB Nick Chubb - ROTY candidate
3rd Round (#67): DE Chad Thomas - pfft, inactive last game
4th Round (#105): WR Antonio Callaway - really improving, loads of potential
5th Round (#150): LB Genard Avery - fast start Edge
6th Round (#175): WR Damion Ratley - developmental 53-man WR, late A&M bloomer
6th Round (#188): CB Simeon Thomas - released, picked up by the Hawks, released
 
one thing that is being overlooked IMO about Dorsey is the depth he has acquired in 1 off season.

No way browns Teams of the past would have overcame the amount of Injuries at LB , CB the browns have had this year.

Mitchell, Carrie, Gaines there wasnt a drastic drop off in productivity. same with Kirksey going down and avery and vallejo stepping in.

no more Bademosi or tank carter stepping in with drastic a drastic drop off in productivity.... its hard to win in the nfl with holes like that.

Excellent point. There is no doubt that the guy has an eye for talent and a willingness to go after it. I just hope that after the season, he opts for continuity and retains GGG and Kitchens. I think that will be the fastest way to get where we want to be. I think that at this point, it will be better for our players to concentrate on getting better instead of concentrating on learning new systems.

But if not, although I fear that hiring a new coach will slow the advance, I don't think a new coach will stop it. Even bad coaches can sometimes win with good players, and I don't think Dorsey will hire a bad coach.

The only thing I would really hate would be to go back to the Air Coryell and the 3-4.

Dorsey walks by the radio show yesterday with clam chowder in hand, the on-air hosts give him wide grins, claps, and a thumbs up.

He says without cracking a smile "We're 6 ... & ... 7. We haven't done anything yet".
