Cribbs Agent "Pay him or trade him"

Oh boy, here we go. At least Cribbs is doing and saying the right things, his agent is the one being the junkyard dog here. Not that I can blame him.

The agent for Josh Cribbs said Friday that the Browns are being unfair to Cribbs and that they should either pay him or trade him.

The remarks came in response to Browns coach Eric Mangini saying, "[There's] no interest in moving Josh Cribbs" before Tuesday's 4 p.m. trading deadline.

"It's unfair for the Browns to hold Joshua back," said current agent J.R. Rickert. "They should either give him an extension or allow another team to acquire him. Their current position of doing nothing is no longer fair or appropriate. We are asking them to give him the extension he's earned."

At least six teams have expressed interest in trading for Cribbs, according to NFL.com. They are Miami, Kansas City, Oakland, Indianapolis, Jacksonville and San Francisco. At least some of those teams are willing to re-do Cribbs' contract in the short term, a source said.

Cribbs is doing and saying all the right things. Agents don't have to do that. So when Cabot gets a non-story from Cribbs she escalates the story by calling the agent, who has been saying the same thing since Feb. She just has no credibility with me. Absolutely none. I think Josh deserves a new contract but what I'm unaware of his high much he should make a season. How underpaid is he? From all reports both locally and nationally he is underpaid.

The knock I hear from people is we can't renegotiate every player? True. But how many player are grossly underpaid, which everyone consder Cribbs to be.

I think they are playing this all wrong - well everyone besides Cribbs himself. And the media has played it wrong the most. Cabot is no longer worth reading anymore.

Yeah I got a tweet from Dawgscooper this am linking to Mary Kay. I was worried at 1st, I thought the agent came and gave an ultimatum. But she's just reporting the same crap everyone else did yesterday afternoon. She's only 12 hours late, as usual.

She bothers me.

This is all posturing.
Mangini had no idea how things would play out, think about it.
How do you renegotiate an unknown entity?
Cribbs has ST'S locked up and we know thats his bread and butter but there still trying to find other areas to work him into a game.

Lets say he got paid and then blew up at wideout, who's happy with that deal?
Some have mentioned he play some defense, well same case how do you make the deal before you evaluate his play?

When the season is over im sure he gets his deal based on his abilitys and if he's not happy and the right offer is made they trade him but I dont think you redo his deal till you know what your doing with him.
JMO...

Good point and one the media obviously is not astute enough to come up with on their own.

I would say pay him. Someone did bring up an interesting point of how close to the Superbowl are we? If we could trade him for a crazy amount of high draft picks I guess you would have to listen.

Looks to me like everyone is playing their respective parts. Cribbs is playing his tail off. His agent is being a blow hard trying to get the best deal possible for his client. The coach is saying he doesent want to trade him.

I don't see any problems until the player starts acting like a jerk, which seems unlikely from Cribbs at this point.

Cribbs just raised his value yeterday with that return for a TD, we should be able to get a higher pick out of him if we trade him away.

I could you see Cribbs in a Seahawks uniform by tuesday?

From Michael Silvers 32 Questions today.

30. Cleveland Browns: If Joshua Cribbs(notes) really wants to force the issue, shouldn’t he stop five yards short of the end zone on his next breakaway kickoff return and demand his contract be negotiated?

Did you know that cribbs has almost scored as many points as our offense

I would be in support of him doing the above
