Spit-Balling

Dear god, are we really to the place where this is an actual argument?: "If McDaniels is so good, why would he come to Cleveland?"

In other words, we should get a shittier coach because, well... we won't feel like Becca will leave us for a handsomer guy? I guess?

Only in Cleveland. I'm sure it's not because we have more young talent than anybody, or a serious QB in place, or OBJ/Landry/Chubb/Hunt all on the same team. Any coach who wants to come here must suck because that's my stance and I'm sticking to it.

I just have no clue where the conversation would go from there. We should only target coaches who don't wanna be here? Because that means they're good?

I have to agree...desire is innate. There are only 32 teams in the NFL, 32 HC jobs. If you don't want one of them, likely you are gonna sour your value for the other 31. Not a good move.

I do think that his desire for stability for his kids will be a major factor. I do believe the rumored desire for BB type control will be a factor. If he truly is against having DePo around, that will play a huge role.

If he is willing to come in with say Ziegler, bring in a legit OC (yes, he can call his own plays) and a legit DC, and keep Priefer...and keep DePo...sure, I can get on board. If he comes in with no legit OC, a beginner DC, and demands final on 53 and ouster of DePo...no thanks.

All I’m saying is show me one just one Coach who lasted
longer than RAC? and truly had a chance.
We’ve had three owners and sixteen QB’s in twenty one
years.
Bottom line,
I’m moving my family to a franchise that gives me the best
chance for success and stability which is something the Browns
have zero chance of promising.
Never said we’re a shit franchise not to be considered but we haven’t
been a stable environment and yeah we have plenty to work with from
players, picks as well as cap space just zero patience.

Just stating the obvious...

Does anybody have a link about Saleh Blowing the doors off his interview(s)?

As far as Stefanski goes I just saw his Cousins led offense beat the saints up pretty easily. Not so much for McDaniels Brady led offense.

They quote Peter King as well as a few other ESPN folks who say it went very well, they were also discussing it this morning on NFL Network amd said he blew the Browns away with his football knowledge and staff ideas.

... and ownership that changes its GM/HC at unprecedented rates.

Its too bad because everything you said is true.

That's the beauty of McDaniels. The only way Haslam is getting him is with a contract that forces continuity. I'd guess that whatever McDaniels signs will have to basically hand him three or four seasons of security, at minimum.

With this roster and our assets, that's more than enough to hit the ground running and establish firm footing for the future.

I'd argue that one of our problems with the coaching carousel is we're always hiring motherfuckers who can be fired quickly with little to no issue. If we can't naturally attain continuity, the next best thing is contractually forcing it.

That's a fact. Give McD a 6 year contract with no buyout, prevent Haslem from himself and his impulses.

Absolutely correct. Tepper just gave Rhule 7 freaking years and $60 million dollars. New owner doing things his way.

Could that rub off on Haslam? Sure as shit it could. Especially if DePo is actually running point, a guy who understands the role of guaranteed money a LOT better than most, given his MLB experience.

DF points out in the OP that McD has kids aged 14 through 5, i.e., this is the PERFECT time to move, as the oldest gets to go to Ignatius and the littlest gets to start K in a place that he hopefully stays in forever.

I'm not joking. I had to move multiple times the last three years and kids, wife and school ABSOLUTELY matters in the real world.

So is it a stretch that McD didn't go to Indy because of kids, wife *and* it wasn't right because he wanted GM input? Not at all.

Timing matters. This situation might just be the right one. Finally.

I’d request that the Haslams be forbidden from any team contact for the first 3 years.
In fact a legal restraining order keeping him out of Cleveland and any city the Browns are in is a strong selling point.

Earlier you bashed the OBR and Twitter.
Now you link an article in direct competition to the OBR and the article references Twitter posts on top of it.
Hmmmmmm...:thinking::confused2:

I guess dawgpounddaily is somehow better.

Anyway if the Haslam's are going to do this search right then they should hire the best guy. Not their favorite guy. I can't say I hate the idea of Saleh, McDaniels or Stefanski. I just don't trust the Haslam's to make the right choice.

Saleh is this year's Stefanski which means he'll get a gig in 2021 if not now. It's kind of how it works, like Swalwell running for president even though he knew he didn't have a chance.

I say we all give Ragnar a little leeway. I understand his perspective and as I stated in another post I used to wrestle with all this "insiders are saying this" and "twitter is saying that" stuff myself. He seems to have a pretty deep history with our favorite team and I'm betting he'll be a valued poster.

Just give him some time to understand how we go about things in the offseason. Probably took me 10 years. He seems smarter than me, so he'll come around quicker. ;)

I'm not sure he's KoK for the reasons you gave, Grey. He seems like a good poster but he also feels ve-e-e-ery familiar to us and with us, knows which colors he wears already!

But honestly, he clearly knows football and the Browns and I'm always there for that. Don't have to agree on everything.

I thought of AO and or '56!
:roflmao:

But '56 would not put up with me fucking around with his posts.

All I ask is for links or some sort of reference that explains why your post(s) have any credence. It's why Twitter does work. It's a tool. It can also be used improperly like any other tool.

I'm concerned about 56... We haven't heard from him in over a year...

I linked to it because it included the report from Peter King, who also discussed it on PFT video, who is far beyond anything OBR could ever dream of being.

I also have yet to see Dawg Pound Daily do ANYTHING close to Lane Adkins. If they HAVE proclained they have nonexistent sources ala Adkins by all means I ask you to show me so I can stop perusing their opinion pieces.
