Browns 2022 Playoff Thread

I will say, the Bengals fans were seemingly insanely confident. Burrow is clutch and Chase was 100%. I get it.

But, they'll pay Burrow a quarter-billion and be playoff relevant for 10+ years. I don't feel sorry for them at all.

Mike Brown is the poorest owner in the NFL, so lucky for the Gals fans, there's a salary cap. Won't be much "converting to bonus" for other players though (at least not as much as there is for other teams), but I'm not sure it matters with Joe B. He went further last year with a shitty O-line than he did this year with an expensive free-agent O-line.

Well.. If their gonna pay Burrow a 1/4 million dollars... I fail to see how their gonna keep a team competitive for a 10 year playoff run when he's getting the lions share of the teams Cap... You know Chase is gonna want his "Dollars"too!... Won't be surprised to see Chase walk...

Money is going to get reeeeeaally tight going forward.
Nah. We have our franchise QB in the prime of his career over the next 10 years and Unca Jimmy wants a new lake front stadium. The AFC is loaded. The only way to stay relevant and flourish is to push in the chips.

NFL just added 16 million to the cap, and that'll continue to go up in the coming years, making the Watson deal less of a percentage of our total cap.

Currently Cap Space, including rollover ($14,445,606), pre new cap.

JJ3 June 1st Cut +$9,750,000
Restructures
- Watson +$35,936,000
- Garrett +$12,936,000
- Teller +$9,136,000
- Bitonio +$7,868,000
8 Draft Picks ($1,747,565)

Cap Space $60,430,394

If we restructured Ward, Njoku, and Chubb as well, then the Browns jump to nearly 100 million in cap space. Of course, there is no reason to restructure everybody, but if needed, it's doable.

So, let's go get Payne from the Commanders for our IDL's. IDL, and maybe LB, really should be our 2 big signings. LB is harder to judge of course because 1) they all got hurt this year, and 2) they had to overcome a shitty interior d-line.

1/4 million dollars
That'd be 1/4 billion, but I get your point. I don't think Mike Brown has the financial ability to restructure his ass off. I do think Burrow is good enough to keep one of the poorest owners (a relative term) in the hunt no matter what Mike Brown does, kind of like Rodgers does in Green Bay. Relevant every year.

Least wealthy owners:

32. Green Bay (mainly because of their ownership model)
31. Cincinnati

Haslam is like 14th.

You make it sound easy, but I still remain skeptical. I hope you're right, but if so then all the other teams will have room to spend too. And one of the biggest position groups to benefit this year will be DT's like Payne. We're not the only defense in need of run stuffing defenders along the DLine.

We can use a LB, Safety, Tackle and a WR. And we need those positions filled yesterday on account this staff and FO has used its excuses for losing two years in a row. A rookie HC trying to manage his new team and install a new system using Zoom videos. Baker fading over time then requesting to be traded. Then DW signed to a record contract, but unable to play and using backup Brissett for 11 games. I'm tired of all the BS. Is Purdy better than Brissett? Who knows but it doesn't matter because a quality HC coached his ass into playing like a Pro Bowl QB. On top of their D playing lights out ALL SEASON LONG.

And let's not forget the ST's being an early shit show until it improved after the season was damn near shot to hell. Not including York in that at all. I hope he improves his concentration. That was the BS line we were told. I don't know how an NFL Kicker can't concentrate but if that truly is the issue, as a HC, I'd visibly be all over that guy and Priefer. "Can't concentrate" my ass.

Just venting some on account I'm tired of BS excuses and if I am, I'm pretty sure the Haslam's are too.

The problem starts from the top... Haslam blows!

Mathematically it's easy, but of course, you're not referring to that part. Let's so who AB can attract. He tends to laser focus on his one big target to go hard. HAS to be interior D-line, right?
That or LB. And we know LB is not a position of value unless Schwartz looks at it differently and sees a LB that he loves. As offenses rely more and more on the running game defense like ours are adjusting to it. They'll also be looking for run stuffing DT's and LB's. If possible a MLB that can stay on the field in all situations is gold right now as much as a DT.

As far as Haslam's, it looks like Jimmy learned to let the football guys do their job unmolested. And he is at least willing to spend money like Dan Gilbert. That's key to me. An owner that spends money and can step away while the FO does what it's paid to do.
