Browns Pick #144, Sheduer Sanders, QB, Colorado

Honestly I could care less about obscure stats and all of the made up metrics these websites cobble together to coddle and promote certain types of QB's.

The QB position is as it has always been, does the QB find a way to win, elevate everyone around him, find a way to pick apart opposing Defenses and show a knack for making NEEDED plays?

The answers on Sanders range from flat out no, unknown and on to "we don't know yet."

The bigger portion to that is.... He's a 5th round pick. You're picking in the top 5, hopefully, in the draft. Do you pass on making a play for a franchise defining QB to wait around and see what a 5th round project has to offer?

Depends who's there.
If the next QB up, after Mendoza and Moore is, say, Ty Simpson, then yes, you roll with Sanders, who, on tape, was a first round level QB.

Around 8 of the teams who will be drafting in the top 20 may be looking for a QB.

Raiders, Jets, Cards, Browns, Dolphins, Vikings, Panthers, Steelers.
Add the Bucs are questioning Mayfield, the Lions are questioning Goff, etc.

I agree we need to prioritize the position, and cramming 6 in a the room last summer was flat out weird.
It's just going to be interesting on how we do it.

I take Allar over Simpson all day every day.

I said in another post: Try, just freaking TRY to make a serious move for Mendoza. If you can't get him, the Raiders say nahhh, then draft Allar with one of our firsts and let's see if Sanders can beat him out.

Nah man. He was a first round projection all the way.

Alllar is big board ranked 150-200 range, meaning day 3. His tape was horrible this year and terrible last year vs good teams.

A Saturday flyer for me. Just my 2¢.
Something was wrong with that team. I saw Allar play and the calls were non sensical. Just bad. Then a few weeks later he was out for the season hurt and Franklin was fired.

The case for Sanders:

Team was 2-8 when they named him the starter.

He lost his entire starting O-Line, two starting Tight Ends, and his starting Running Back.

He started 7 games playing largely with backups.

The team was 3-4 with him as the starter.

Name him your Day 1 starter next year with a new and improved O-Line. You use your top picks on receivers and O-line.

Sure, maybe draft a QB in the 3rd or later if you want. Maybe Chambliss.

If Sanders fails, trade everything for a 2027 draft QB
