NFL Draft Draft season and talk -‘26

Nope.

We got to get a WR in the 1st round. Not that Vega is a bad pick but we can get a good guard in the 2nd and 3rd rounds easier than a good WR. And I'd prefer a big WR. Plus I like Isaiah Bond who's 5'11 180 and can fly. That's just my preference as we sit here today.

I'm thinking we're going to add a Tackle and a WR in FA and depending on the cost maybe one more OLine addition. 🤞🤞🤞

The Donovan who's already on the roster?

Yes. He was a really nice player at Pitt.
  • Led the Panthers in tackles with 115 in 2024 and became the first Pitt player to record consecutive 100-tackles seasons since 2008.
  • Named Honorable Mention All-ACC in 2023 after transferring from Florida and playing all 12 games and recording 105 tackles, one forced fumble and one pass break up.

It's about development with McMillon. A 3rd rotational Safety right now and maybe better with some PT.

It still has to play out. We're not horrible at Safety with Hickman and Delpit and if McMillon continues his positive development we have flexibility with the 6th pick if Downs is there.

McMillion could very well be #2 or a starter this season. He has the ability. We'll see.

Let's talk WR's and daft: If the Browns are serious about maximizing Todd Monken’s offense, we HAVE to come out of this draft with one of these four WRs.

Here’s how I see it/them:

1. Jordyn Tyson

Best technician in the draft. He’s the most advanced route runner in this class... tempo, stems, leverage, all of it. He separates at all three levels. The 4.5 speed is deceptive because he plays faster than he times. 67% contested catch rate shows he’s not just a finesse guy either. He can play outside or slide inside.

Concerns: Injuries. That’s the big one. And 12 drops in three years isn’t ideal. Not a deal breaker, but it’s there.

If the medicals check out, he’s arguably the best overall WR in this class.

2. Makai Lemon

He is the cleanest projection to the NFL in the draft IMO. Closest comp stylistically to JSN/Puka type. Extremely polished route runner. Can line up anywhere. Elite reliability... only 3 drops on 175 targets.

He’s not the most dynamic YAC receiver in the draft, and at 5’11” he doesn’t have the catch radius of someone like Tate. But he’s a Day 1 starter in any system.

If you’re running a timing/spacing offense, he’s plug and play.

3. Carnell Tate

Best ball tracker and high-point guy in the draft. Deep ball skills are elite. Only 3 drops all year (5.4% drop rate). Dominates zone coverage... finds soft spots and sits down like a veteran. Five 40+ yard TDs shows legit big-play ability.

He’s lower on my list because the run blocking is below average and he struggled at times getting off the line against strong, physical corners. But huge upside.

4. Denzel Boston

If you want size and red zone dominance, this is your guy. 6’4”, elite back-shoulder catcher, outstanding ball tracking. 20 TDs in two years. And he’s the best run blocking WR of the top 4.

But he wins more with size than suddenness. Not as versatile alignment-wise as the others.

Now here’s the real question: who fits Todd Monken best?

Monken’s system is about:
• Option routes
• Coverage recognition
• Intermediate timing
• Alignment versatility
• Precision

It’s not built around jump balls. It’s built around separation and processing.

For that reason, my ranking for Cleveland specifically is:
  1. Makai Lemon
  2. Jordyn Tyson
  3. Carnell Tate
  4. Denzel Boston
If Tyson’s medicals check-out and the concerns are satisfied, he might be the best overall talent. But if we’re talking about the cleanest, safest fit into Monken’s system from Day 1, it’s Lemon. Elite reliability. Advanced route detail. Can play inside or outside. Keeps the offense on schedule. That is our guy. But in the end, I'm happy if we come away with any of the 4.

For me it's Tate.

Yeah I'm an OSU guy and it's a big part having watched a lot of him. It's true for me too that catching the damn ball is the number 1 trait to have as a WR. That most likely is Tate.

1. Cath the ball
2. Separation

Speed is always nice, but a reasonably high IQ is right there and/or being on the same page as the QB especially if there are a lot of option routes built into the offense.

If Catching the ball is #1, then Lemon is the #1 guy in the class for me. But I don't think we can go wrong with any of the Top 4.

We go tackle with #6. Period. WR at 24 or whoever is fine. Get the best tackle in the draft (which is a good tackle draft) and maybe another later. Offensive line is priority 1. Either through the draft or free agents (Rasheed Walker is going to get 20 million).

Getting the best tackle wont solve everything... You still need a QB who doesn't hold on to the damn ball all damn day...

I'd like to go OT, WR, then OL and OL, TE/WR, TE/WR. It's a deep safety class though, so maybe throw in one of those.

Ideally, the top OT, then WR Boston, then Dunker and guard. Would love ND's WR Fields and TE Rardon.

The thing that bothers me is all the "trade back" mocks. As Brian Billick once said, people always wonder why their team didn't trade back for more picks, and he says it's hard to do, as everyone is trying to do it.
