Browns The new Andrew Berry

You give three 1sts for a guy in his prime with no signs of slowing down, like we did for Watson.
Herbert is stumbling.
Two 1sts at max.
Although, after the last two drafts, I value our Thursday and Friday picks more than ever.

Hold on there. We did not give three 1sts for a "guy in his prime with no signs of slowing down." Watson was so full of baggage it's taken 4 full years to get the rust off of him and get his head straight, and it's not all gone and his head could still crumble. Herbert doesn't get hurt and only missed a few games in his career. He's had the worst and most injured offensive line the last two seasons. And he's got very few weapons. He hasn't been good. No doubt. But you put him on this team and the sky is the limit.

Although, after the last two drafts, I value our Thursday and Friday picks more than ever.
That's the thing. We can always use 1st round picks, but getting a top 6 QB, at least in talent, would skyrocket our potential. Watson is not coming back. I'd take Herbert over any rookie QB in next years' draft. Monken might be just what Herbert needs.

19Spencer FanoOTUtah - 3rd ranked OLman in his class. Highest graded starting OT
124KC ConcepcionWRTexas A&M - clearly starting to come on
239Denzel BostonWRWashington - Ravens prioritized him. He's officially on DC's radar
258Emmanuel McNeil-WarrenSToledo - 3rd ranked safety in all of football. Rookies AND Vets
386Austin BarberOTFlorida - the top ranked OLman in his class

The ones AB adeptly avoided?

WR Lemon - pfff, non-productive weirdo
WR Tyson - still injured
OT Mauigoa - worst ranked OLman in his class, by far
OT Mo Freeling - also very poorly ranked
OG Emmamual Pregnon - was a day 2 darling. He's stuggling
S Caleb Downs - not a bust at all, but easily being outplayed by EMW to date
S Dillon Theinaman - another 1st round safety. 5th ranked in his class, just behind Downs

The funny thing is, on draft day, if AB would have drafted:

Lemon AND Tyson
Mauigoa AND Freeling
Downs or Theinaman

... I would have been elated. Would have totally claimed off season victory.

Since the departure of Depodesta... AB seems like a different man and procurer of talent.. As much disappointment in losing John Dorsey.. I'm gladly eating crow.. Anyone whose not happy with what Berry has done has rocks in their head or are in complete denial.. He's been more than solid... And with the QB class being what it is and that rams pick looking better each week.. I think the Brown should just let the next upcoming NFL draft come to them and pick the guy they want...

This is quite interesting I came across today:

Catherine Hickman

The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue believes Browns assistant GM and VP of football operations Catherine Hickman may be a name to watch in Indianapolis’ GM search.

Rodrigue reports that Browns GM Andrew Berry’s endorsement of a candidate “may hold some weight” for Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon as he was “instructive” to Irsay-Gordon’s football development. Thus, two of the top names on Rodrigue’s list of candidates for the Colts GM job are Hickman and the Browns other assistant GM/VP of football operations, Glenn Cook. She also mentions Adam Berry — Eagles assistant GM and twin brother of Andrew — and Eagles VP of football operations Alan Wolking, among others.

Next year is going to be a HUGE test/challenge for Berry. It appears from already having 4 wins and the "easiest" (whatever that means LOL) schedule that we are not going to be picking at the top of the draft.. What he will do to get a top tier rookie QB or Swing a trade.. Heaven forbid Watson plays well enough to be re-signed.. I'm over that guy. We are stuck with him. for the moment... but.. Yeah.. you know.. ....
I see the Browns as kind of a replay (hopefully) of what. the Steelers did with Pig Ben and the Ravens did with Flacco.. Teams that had crappy QB play and built a great roster first.. after building an amazing roster then drafted the QB to drop into a talented team surrounded by talent... THIS IS WHAT I FORSEE FOR THE BROWNS.. We are Building that Roster.. THE OL still needs a LOT of work..but we drafted 2 starters this year.. We drafted skill players.. We have a solid Defense that really just needs the replacement to be brought in for Denzel Ward for the future.. and another DE who can play the run and deliver 8-10 sacks.. but the team, sans the OL is essentially built.. Just need that special QB to drop in there... and must get it right after 6,500 attempts to fill that spot..... I still can imagine Baker really flying high if we didn't pull the plug so soon.. but that ship has sailed.. there are a few QB's next year.. where we are drafting? I'm guessing the Kid (Julian Sayin?) from Ohio state may be our best shot.. but what do I know... I'm hoping this class is as deep as it was once projected to be.. but they never are.

We may need a RB and a TE as well as a CB and OLinemen. We lucked into Barber and Fano is playing decent. If we can get some playing time for Center Brailsford to kind of see what he's got, it would help. Wypler has played decent as a backup Center, and I don't know what happened to Dawand Jones starting.

I think we have more holes to address than just QB to be honest.

RB and a TE as well as a CB and OLinemen
I like that list.
OL is really coming together though, as the weak link RT is finally playing well.
Our interior is doing very well.
Fano is definitely coming along and will only get better.

Monken can win with mid-QB play. He's done it his whole career. Just get a guy with good clay.

Always dig a CB, and a blocking TE would be nice.
An RB on Friday or Saturday would be nice. Maybe with one of those 4ths.

The RB thing is relative to Q being healthy and producing. If he's producing reasonably well, we'll be OK with Rocket and Sampson as backups.

Get Fannin & Whiteheart some work with the Warhop & the OLine and reenforce their blocking assignments to them.
