Browns 2023 Season record predictions

I just got to see Watson play more and get a better sense of whether or not he can return to a top 10 or better type of QB.

He's had time off to watch the offense and see the different options that present themselves against certain defenses. He just needs to put the time in behind Center already.

Win two of the next three, and we're 6-4 heading with the Broncos, Rams, Bears, Texans, and Jets yet to go.

Gotta beat the Cards, and either the Steelers or Ravens. Lose twice to the Steelers and twice to the Ravens this season, and we kind of don't deserve much.

As we sit here at 5-3 ...

I think we need to win one of the next two, and the more likely one to win is the Steelers at home on November 19th.

Ravens - L
Steelers - W
Broncos- W
Rams- W
Jags - L
Bears - W
Texans - W
Jets- W
Bengals - L

That'd be an 11 win season. Luckily, the rules changed in 2020 whereby all four of the AFCN teams can go to the playoffs, if that's the way the records add up.

not even worried about winning the division

Grossi has always said the easiest way to the playoffs is win the division, which is true. BUT, his thinking is somewhat outdated with the new 2020 playoff rules in place.

So now more than ever, winning the division isn't as nearly as important.

I agree. Our basement hope this year was to get to the playoffs. Heck, that's the hope every year.

My sincere hope is the rats have peaked... I just don't think they are that great on Offense sans LJ.. He's the cog driving behind the wheel.. Eventually he's gotta come back to earth... He's in a new offense at which some point someone is gonna break down the film.. Note the tendencies. This guy isn't Tom Brady or Joe Montana for crying out loud.. I think its mostly the defense that has carried them but I could be wrong.. I haven't really watched them except a couple of late quarters... They kind of mirror us... For me... It's gonna come down to whose hungrier.. And who turns over the ball.. And ultimately... Who has it last... I don't trust Shitmypantsky to finish a game.. Nor Deshaun at this point...

I'm starting to get back into the old days of Browns football where I was scoreboard watching and looking at teams we'd do best against in the playoffs. It's like a fuzzy, out of focus dream. The way things used to be when I was younger, reading the PD sports page. Searching out Browns articles and stuff. It's starting to come back to me now. I feel like I've returned from years of isolation and I'm re-learning how it's supposed to be.

This one is tough to predict. The script is out to stop the Browns offense as currently constructed - load the box and make a bad DTR beat you. We will have the best defense on the field in every game; but also the worst QB (unless Flacco takes the job) in every game. 13 points isn't going to cut it vs the rest of this schedule:

Points per game:

#10 - Houston, 23.8 PPG
#11 - Jacksonville, 23.0 PPG
#15 - Denver, 21.7 PPG
#19 - Chicago, 20.9 PPG
#20 - Cincy, 20.2 PPG
#22 - LA Rams, 19.5 PPG
#30 - NY Jets, 15.0 PPG

The Broncos are dead last in the NFL in yards allowed per game (400.1 YPG); last in rushing yards allowed per game (160 YPG); 24th in passing yards allowed per game.

We really have no reason to lose to any of these teams if we were healthy...which is the frustrating thing. Houston and Jacksonville can score. Trips to the West Coast are always tough. I say we finish 4-3, maybe 3-4 if DTR is playing QB. With Flacco, 5-2 at worst.

Sean Payton has Denver's D playing better of late. They're going the route of pit and creating TO's to get wins. It's no secret though.

No TO's. No ME's. Playing fast and physical football with a productive running game will get us a lot of wins. And I have to add we'll have to play through the inevitable, for shit, piss poor, often imaginary, bad referee calls.
