Exactly. I don’t get the constant Baker revisionism. He flattened out and regressed in his contract year with us.

That’s what we knew at the time.

And I don’t want to hear this left shoulder injury crap. Watson went 14-14 to win in Baltimore while playing with a torn up throwing shoulder.

Watson doesn’t need perfection around him, but when your team is near or at the top of the league in drops, penalties, pressures on your QB …. when RT1, LT1, RG1, C1, TE1, ans RB1 are out … and WR1 is dropping passes like never before … well hell, that’s tough sledding.

Baker didn't "regress" until he got hurt trying to make a tackle against the Texans. He had a great pre-season and threw the ball great against the Chiefs in the opener. Then he tried to make the tackle after an interception against Houston and his season should have been done right there. But he played hurt.

As I've said dozens of times, I don't blame Berry for pulling the trigger for Watson. At the time, most everyone in the world would have said Watson was head and shoulders better than Baker. But it's also true that the trade has been a disaster. Watson, so far, is not three first round draft picks better than Baker, not even a second-round pick better.

Personally, I think all the off-the-field BS went to Watson's head. Kind of like Tiger when he got caught cheating. I'm not sure Watson will ever recover. He did look better Sunday, showed some fire.

What TBPP says is true: Watson was setting records in Houston on a team with a bad O-Line, throwing the ball down the field to Hopkins and others. But the league has changed since then, a lot more two-deep safeties forcing QBs to take the short stuff, not sure Watson can adjust. I hope he does, but I'm skeptical given what I've seen the last two seasons. Now Watson is on a better team with a bad O-line (who would have thought that?), but he can't even throw for 200 yards in a game

Washington has given up a ton of yards and points. If we can't score on them and Watson can't go over 200 yads passing, I'm throwing in the towel for the season.

Yet you were strangely silent last week.
Baker got sacked 7 times against the Broncos, yet still completed 78% of his passes. For the season, he's been sacked 4 times less than Watson, yet he continues to produce. Baker got sacked 5 times against the Lions but managed to win. But you are full of excuses for Watson: the coach, the O-line, the receivers. Watson is dropping his eyes at the first sign of pressure and doesn't seem to hit anyone on a timing route. Real franchise QBs do not need excuses; they get it done.

Agree Watson played as well as probably possible based on the rest of the circumstances. But can't play if this and that game. Cooper doesn't let that ball bounce off the numbers for an INT the Harris holding play may never happen at all

I'll just leave this here for all you DeFraud lovers...

Deshaun Watson
Since 2022
- $137,000,000
- 18 Touchdowns
Baker Mayfield
Since 2022
- $52,000,000
- 49 Touchdowns
Baker is not here anymore. There’s nothing we can do about it
Now 🤷🏻‍♂️

If DW can be just average we’d have a chance.

KS is in the hot seat if this season implodes.
