NFL Draft - Fernando Mendoza | Barking Hard

NFL Draft Fernando Mendoza

OconRecon

If you're juiceless, you're useless
He’s QB1.

Call him the likely Heisman winner, the Big Nerd, on the spectrum, or the Cringy Christian… he’s gonna have a lot of gray-beards in front offices gunning for him.

I would guess, at a MINIMUM it would take:

- 2026 1st rnd
- 2026 1st rnd
- 2027 1st rnd
- 2026 2nd rnd
- 2027 3rd rnd
- 2026 5th rnd
I agree man. We have a pile of QB needy teams we have to outbid.

What that would basically do is:

• Browns receive: Mendoza in ‘26 (for sure)
• Raiders receive: Manning in ‘27 (likely)

I personally would do whatever it takes to trade backwards and acquire as many 2027 picks as possible, at this point. If Haslam is THAT infatuated with Manning, it's going to take a miracle of all miracles to pull it off or a competition in the tank for Arch sweepstakes and hope the HC can out tank the other tanking teams.

Say, what's Hue Jackson up to these days? We may need to revisit that on a one year deal.

So, the only way we're getting Mendoza is trading a haul, as we all know. 3 firsts + more.

1) The Raiders are going to have to like Manning (or the entire '27 QB draft class odds) > Mendoza
2) The Browns are going to have to like Mendoza > Manning (and the odds of landing him)

The thing is, there may not be anyone who likes Manning more than Haslam.

Ok ok. Question for ya'll.

What is the maximum you'd give up to get Mendoza?

I mean, maybe do a mega-offer to the Raiders, and they think to themselves "hey, Manning comes out next year along with a pile of other good QB's, and this is the Browns, so, they'll likely continue to suck ass, so these picks they're offering will likely be high per-round selections".

I think the starting point is three 1sts. Our two 2026 1sts and our 2027 1st.

I'm not saying we should do it. As the other option is to sit tight, draft WR1 and a bunch of OL, roll with Sanders or Watson and see what happens. If we suck, there should be plenty of QB options next year.

Great question @OconRecon. I don't see how we outbid the Jets with picks so we'd have to add a player or two or three on top of the three first round picks. That's if we really, really, really want Mendoza and I'm leaning hard we need to rebuild so much more it's just not in the cards at this time.

Anyway, I'd offer something like both (2) 2026 1st round picks and our 2027 1st round pick. I'd also offer Sanders to give them a QB that could bridge them until they get their guy. I'd add MG too if he's willing to sign off on it. I think he has a no trade clause in his contract.
The defense would be seriously tested but we have a ton of talent there and the drop off would not be the end of the world for that unit.

I don't know of any other players who have value that we'd be willing to let go. Schwesinger? No. Fanin? No. Judkins? Maybe but a good RB can be found later in the draft. I'd offer Watson too btw. I almost forgot about him. I'm not sure if he has any value so add Watson to the trade too.

That's a hell of an offensive line in Indiana. I wonder how Mendoza would have done on the Browns this season, running for his life every play? I'd take him #1 in a heartbeat. I wouldn't give up 3 firsts again for any QB. We have to build the offensive line this draft or it doesn't really matter who's playing QB.

The maximum I'd give up is our 1sts this year, but given how big the jump from #6 to #1 is + the fact that there's more QB needy teams with greater draft capital than us, that's not nearly enough.

Also, we can't be always giving up elite talent by giving away 1sts.
We need those to bolster the team in other areas than QB.

We had one of the best left tackles ever ... but with no QB ... it didn't matter
We have one of the best edges ever ... but with no QB ... it doesn't matter

I don't know what I'm hoping for, but a generational non-QB doesn't matter until we stumble into THE QB.
As has been lamented here many times.

THe word in Las Vegas has been Mark Davis had a massive chubby for Sanders pre-draft, and likely still does.

I would offer this trade:

2026- 1st
2026- 1st
2027- 1st
2026- 3rd
2027- 3rd
Shadeur Sanders
