I've always felt like Greggggg massively underachieved with our defense.

And the only reason it didn't stand out was because of the many "fortunate" turnovers in the first half of the year and our wins after he became interim head coach.
 
and to think dorsey could have derailed this team by making GW the head coach..... it was easy right in front of him and a no brainer by some .


one decision and the team could have been stuck in mediocrity under baker with a poor defensive scheme and a GW yelling at players who's ears become more and more def as time goes on.

not taking any sides here and though you make a valid point about us average dudes. Majority, if not all stars to try to build there brand via social media and there love of there profession.
 
Yeah, there definitely was a lot of "really, really good" talent. When you have an elite edge and an elite cover guy to start with, and then one of the best coverage linebackers in the league, and then Randall and Ogunjobi and Avery and Mitchell...

Sorry, bud. It stands. Lot of talent got wasted. More talent than a lot of defenses who performed better, which is the issue here.

Lets do a short review

Corey Coleman was "really really good" has been cut two or three times since that take.

Johnny Fuckwad was also "really really good" the guys not fit for Arena League football.

Our LB's were the strength of the defense last year and of course "really really good" Collins was cut, chrissy is going to be soon and JD has been searching to make this goup solid.

Kindred was tagged "really really good" cut two days later.

Yep he's got an eye for talent :roflmao:

I think I didn't understand the question. You asked where the Browns defensive players are now? It's offseason so all over the place? Still with the Browns, reuniting soon?

When did Thomas become a star or even projected as a star? We are talking about a 3rd round pick here. Also, not everyone is seeking stardom or attention

I just find putting stock in anyone's social media as a reflection of their dedication to their craft laughable. Unless we are taking about someone whose posting so much on social media that they obviously are not doing their job at all.

I mean God forbid someone has interests outside of their profession and maybe still uses social media for entertainment.

not sure I follow the JT reference as I don’t follow him nor use social media but there’s outliers. I would have assumed he would use the free advertising for building his after football career.

Chad Thomas, not JT. Chad Thomas is the player who is believed by ED to not care about the Browns or football because the guys social media is filled with things about his music interests instead of browns items and pics/videos of him working out/training.

I find the notion of making judgement on a players dedication based on what they put on their social media to be a fundamentally flawed assertion. If I went by social media I'd have to believe OBJ isn't interested either since last year he had the pick of him, a naked girl, and what appeared to be lines of coke on his Instagram or what not.

I take social media for what it is, an entertainment/escape outlet. All Chad Thomas's social media tells me is that he is interested in posting about music on social media. Nothing more and nothing less. I mean I don't think someone is less of a browns fan if they are not reading/posting on a browns message board. Same as my example/question about of ED or others post all about their job in their social media.
 
1) Agree on the social media take. It's old gray-bearded media not understanding how it works.
2) Have heard Chad Thomas may be bumped inside. He's, at best, our 5th best edge, and that's being nice. He's 6'5" and almost 300 pounds.

I read it on my iPad through B/R so didn't link, but Mike Freeman (NFL.com) wrote about OBJ saying the Browns are the next Patriots.

He said nobody is the next Patriots, we aren't likely to see anything like that again in the NFL and probably not in any other sport, 20 years of being one of the league's very best teams, a Super Bowl contender and often the champion. It requires a coach and QB staying together that long among a whole lot of other unlikelies.

Doh. Down to earth, right? Not so much. Freeman goes on to say that around the league, the Browns are indeed seen as best built to be a long-term winner, the next NFL dynasty, the closest thing to "the next Patriots."

Others get love. Amy Trask says Browns, Chiefs, Seahawks, and Rams. The Colts get a lot of love. But the sense is that nobody has the combination of a stacked roster AND cap space (5th in the NFL) quite like the Browns. And that it's a very commonly held opinion. The Browns roster is making other teams' coaches and personnel teams shake their heads in admiration. "Stacked" is the word, is the word, is the word.

They have elite players at all the right positions, especially the QB and his weapons on offense and edge rushers and cover guys on defense. And they're set up to keep those core pieces. Five years is a long time in the NFL, but the Browns don't look to lose Baker, OBJ, Landry, Chubb, Garrett, Avery, Ward, or Greedy in that time unless it's by choice. Richardson, Ogunjobi, and Vernon will be here for at least three of those years, so we'll field one of the best DLs in the league.

Shit happens. But judging the design, indeed: The Browns are built to be among the handful of top contenders for a whole lotta years. Maybe THE top contender.
