Gonna be an interesting day. I'd be stunned if Dorsey sits pat, but if he does, then it means other GM's were assuming he was willing to make desperate decisions.

Oh, man, that would be so awesome.

I do think we'll overpay for Williams... which is just fine. If you have your QB, LT, #1 WR, edge, and #1 CB, starts getting tough to figure what to draft in R1 anyway. Every "core position" box checked.

Anything else can be drafted after R1, including another OL. Could see a WR around R4 or even 3 to replace Higgins.
 
Slow down ,we gave away our first in FA with OBJ, you never know I’m sure if we finish below five hundred we will keep the pick but if it’s anything like last year where we had the 17th pick iI could easily see it go another way.
 
Dorsey refrained from any knee jerk decisions. Good job!


Now the players can all move on and do their jobs the rest of the season. No more ME's, TO's and penalties and no more excuses. If players are not capable of playing error free football they need to sit.

FK needs to send a message that it's not going to be tolerated. If the buffoonery continues then Dorsey needs to let FK go. After the season.

Interesting to see that Randall mostly played SS against the Bengals. We've got a very mix-match usage of safety, but this game really highlighted that Sheldrick Redwine made a very big impression against the Steelers.

I thought he played incredibly well against Bungles. The kid made several fantastic tackles yet again, does not get caught out of position and is always flying around the ball. He led the team in tackles and, imo, it wasn't because he was giving up easy completions and then wrapping it up. He's giving nothing up, but always coming across to cover the run or the pass.

I'm really impressed with this kid. I wasn't overly familiar with him as a prospect, and he didn't have a great preseason, but I feel like he's made the most of his opportunity and could be a fantastic addition for us.
 
I'd be stunned if Dorsey is on the hot seat. Williams, Redwine and Mack have been pretty good as far as rookies go. Seibert just had a fuck up but has been solid, otherwise. Forbes and Takitaki are TBD after injury. Gillan was an excellent addition.

Dorsey has done very well, in my opinion.

Except for his choice for the head coach. I agree that he did exceedingly well in acquiring player talent and deserves a chance to fix the coaching problem.

I don't blame him for that for several reasons.

1. Everything we saw last year indicated that Kitchens was a strong candidate.
2. Everyone in the building, including Mayfield, vouched for Kitchens.
3. Dorsey didn't hire Kitchens. The Browns had a committee of six people who determined who would be hired - Dorsey, Haslam, Johnson, Wolf, DePodesta, Berry.
4. The Browns were not wrong about Kitchens. They knew he was inexperienced and he needed to develop. I don't think their expectations were as high as ours.
5. Kitchens was a very popular hire with the fans. It's gone south, but it was popular at first.
6. Haslam reportedly wanted Gase so we were fucked anyway.
7. The Browns interviewed at least 8 candidates and apparently tried to get McDaniels in but it wasn't happening. It's not like the team didn't look hard. Kitchens interviewed well.

I'm willing to cut Dorsey some slack on that one. I don't think the mistake falls totally on him, nor should he sink with Kitchens.

We'll call that a failure on everyone's account, which isn't any more comforting.

Something went wrong with McCarthy last time. The Browns seem to have reached out to him first, and then interviewed him, and afterwards it was reported that he was on the backburner and things were placed on hold.

During this time (DEC 30, JAN 7), the Browns were keying in on Eberflus, Flores, Stefanski, Kitchens and trying to get McDaniels in for an interview but that appears to have fallen through due to him interviewing with Green Bay.

On the same day McDaniels confirms he hasn't interviewed with the Browns (And wouldn't be able to until after the Patriots were knocked out) this is when the Browns appear to narrow it down to Stefanski and Kitchens (JAN 8).

Perhaps it is my bias, and I admit he's atop my list, but it feels like everything changed after the Browns couldn't get McDaniels in for an interview. Like that's when it came down to Kitchens and Stefanski.

All I'm saying - Won't be shocked if Kitchens isn't fired until after the Patriots are knocked out of the playoffs.

EDIT - Completely forgot to make my fucking point: If the issue with McCarthy was Dorsey, he could be on his way out of Haslam wants him. If the issue with McCarthy is that Dorsey wanted someone else who perhaps didn't get the chance to interview, it could be an already-made match.

Which might explain why the Browns opted to stick with Kitchens. Hope for a lot of carry over, take a gamble on an inexperienced guy, but not go out of your way to sign another coveted name in case an opportunity to get the original guy arises in the not-so-distant future.

Admittedly, that's a lot of fucking mental gymnastics and PGL will be proud of my conspiracy theory.
