Back when the young Kim took over. I/we say took over... but it was not that simple as most know who follow NK even slightly. it was a step by step process. back then the hope was he would be different than his dad & grandad. he'd seen the world somewhat, under 30 years old. etc

Lets just take it that he did visioned a very different NK. How could he do that ?
He could not do it over night or a year. there are so many ways to die in NK. for a person his age and with little involvement till his fathers death he may have seen the wheels about him yet had not touched them or knew how they worked.

Now I'll try to fast forward this.
We've heard about people dying thru his reign even relatives. let just take it some not all were person who worried Kim. consolidating power not easy at times. heck I bet there people who Putin knows not to get on the wrong side of. when looking at actions of Kim in recent years outside the nuke stuff he's really been trying to improve the life of his people.

So what if he himself was never interested in nukes. but rocking that boat in the past was just to dangerous for him to do ?
He's using the pressure put on NK for his own ends. time will tell. this pressure would not of stopped his grandad or father.

Kim is an ignorant little man who learned very bad habits from dad and grandad.
He wants to be recognized by his people as a great leader in the face of the American oppressors and with total control over news and media there a captive audience.
The little guy fees in his mind that if he can produce ICBM’s he will get a seat at the big table and can dictate the sanctions and horrendous record he has on human rights.

There’s a reason both Bush and Obama would not meet with him and it’s quite simple ,getting a picture with an American potus gives him just the clout he needs to twist a photo op to his advantage while he keeps building nuclear weapons and starving and killing dissidents.

China has his back so strategically speaking our option is to hammer them with sanctions while trying to force a better track record for his people and nuclear stabilization.

Every time... I've found it hurt and caused death to the poorest people of that country. and that alone.

Even in Our history books they say Reagan's build up of weapons/sanctions took down the USSR. but the fact is it was the Saudis over supplying of oil that Really took them out. thus the Saudis to this day are benefiting..... 9/11 etc kinda over looked.
Do give Ronnie credit for working with the Saudis getting that done.

You are right on mad. Kim clearly has the desire to get out from his wack job fathers shadows. But we all (well most of us) know there are very powerful people behind the scenes that are going to do everything in their power to get in the way. Including the establishment of course. He might not be able to pull it off, but Trump is giving him the opportunity to.

When our top 3 POTUS took the job, we were on the verge of WWIII. Trump is a miracle worker.

Now if only we could get the repub and lib puppets out of the way, we might just be able to save this country.

Time is ticking

A year later I'm not as hopeful. there should be a few shimmers of light. a few speeches to the people, sending messages to the military that warring is not in the best interest of the world.. NK etc

For real change to take place in NK there should be some clarity by now. Trump has given Kim a vision without giving him anything else.

Something positive must happen soon. or decision must be made. we have done nothing for decades fearing what would happen to Seoul. but now it's what might happen to LA, San Fran, Seattle etc we cannot wait see our cities burn down.
