I personally won't miss Garrett. Not a leader, but certainly a loafer, at least before Schwartz got ahold of him.
This Verse guy is definitely an alpha. Hopefully leads us to greater heights.

Been here from the beginning.
The moment Garrett got that record breaking sack . . . you could see this was coming. His value was never going to be higher. It was time to move him. Now that he finally got his trade, the D can move on to being better than 14th in scoring defense. AB prolly gave him the big payday knowing someone else would be paying for most of it and getting diminishing returns.

THREE FIRST ROUND PICKS IN TRADE... THIS WAS A BRILLIANT DEAL.. YOU SAY, "But Yeah Sez. but we didn't get 3 first rounders" .. I SAY "ARE YOU SURE?? " Let's Look at Jared Verse.. just 2 year into his career.. 16th overall 1st round pick won DROY and pro bowler in year 1.. Year 2 again Verse was a pro Bowler.. You can argue that if the Rams traded verse on his own.. they would EASILY get a first rounder and probably another mid to late round pick if he were traded straight. up.. So Verse IS a first round pick.. That's one.. The Rams are giving us their first round pick next year.. THAT"S two... Then getting a 2nd rounder and a 3rd rounder in the subsequent years.. could be argued that that's equivalent to another first round pick.. So yeah. 3 first round picks... If shedeur falters and show's he'd not QB1 material (and we let Watson walk as we should) .. We certainly have the ammunition to move up for Manning, Moore, Sayin or your pick of studs coming out next year.. and we might not even need to trade up depending upon how we end up in the win loss column this year.. but with 2 firsts and 3 Fourth rounders and all our other picks.. I don't see how we can't grab one of the top 2-3 guys or the QB of our choice.. Verse is an up and coming player 6 years younger than Garrett will be coming into his prime right around the time Judkins, Fannin, Boston, Concepcion, Swessinger, Graham, McNiel-Warren and others are coming into their prime.. I wouldn't be surprised if we trade Denzel ward next year and grab another pick for him or include him in a trade package.... So for ME.... THIS WAS A BRILLIANT TRADE... Of course.. you have to draft the right players.. that's always the tricky part..... But with the offensive line Rebuild.. a solid D.. the QB we draft next year (If not Shedeur) will be in a plug and play situation with an up and coming team around him.. and if Shedeur balls out and proves he's our QBOF... even better.. as we can continue to stack talent around him.

There are some ball knowers and some non-ball knowers in these comments.
We got 2 real 1st round picks - Jared Verse was a 1st round pick at #16. As a 25 year old proven 2024 Defensive ROY and 2 time pro bowler, he is better than any DE we could have gotten next year in the 1st round. He is one of the bright, young defensive stars in the NFL. You take that ever time over an unproven 1st round pick.
This isn't thought through very well. Garrett is 30 and will be turning 31 this season, not 25. He has maybe 1-2 big years left in him before the bottom drops out - and it's likely the decline starts this year.
Jared Verse is 25 years old, the 2024 defensive rookie of the year, a two-time pro bowler and one of the best young DE's in the entire NFL -- on a rookie contract with 3 controllable years. We got another 1st round pick, a 2nd and a 3rd. That is a solid haul for an aging star. Not sure what you expected... but clearly it was unrealistic.
The Schwartz mistake/disaster comment is pure idiocy. Garrett was lobbying to get out of Cleveland 2 years ago at the Super Bowl when Schwartz was still the DC. He didn't want to be in Cleveland this past season with Schwartz. He wanted out. This had zero to do with Schwartz and everything to do with Garrett wanting to go play for a SB.
Trying to frame this as a Schwartz thing is pure mental gymnastics with zero basis in reality.
Why? It's a good trade for Cleveland. Ball knowers know.
We didn't win anything with Myles at DE because it all starts and stops at QB. As you said, this team only won games when the QB was and offense was playing well. We just moved one step closer to getting that QB. Ball knower.

Why would you trade Verse for draft picks? In what insane, idiotic world does that make sense? We just got a proven, 25 year old, 2024 Defensive Rookie of the year, two-time pro bowler... one of the brightest young DE's in the entire NFL... as the center piece of the trade. We would you want an asset with a questionable return when we just got one of the best young, PROVEN players in the NFL? You aren't getting a guy like this in next year's draft and we would need to draft a DE.
How is this trade pathetic when we just filled the missing DE spot in our line-up with one of the brighest young stars in the entire NFL? Pathetic trade, but all they could get apparently. This is what happens when you don't read Barking Hard, when I was begging us to trade Garrett 3 years ago. We waited until he was old, and this is what we get.

It was an "Okay" haul... The Clowns gave away three ones for "Mr.rub n tug happy endings' The Packers traded DL Kenny Clark and 2 successive first rounds 2026 and 27.. That's more of what I expected "Mr Ball Knower"

The Verse kid is a younger version of MG. A slice below but very close to the same and way cheaper.
We have room to spend on another Tackle, DE, CB or wherever we see value.
And if say Watson or Sanders does well we can trade one of them and some picks to move up in next years draft.
