Pay Respect; It's Time

The Browns have the 9th ranked defense and the 22nd ranked offense; lets slow the hoyer wins games nonsense.

He's 22 out of 32. And that's against the easiest schedule in the NFL.

Shocker. A thread to pay respect to best QB we've had in a long, long time ....who beat the odds and came back a winner after a devastating injury, (most QBs take two years to get back to form) who gave us an exciting, winning, playoff hope-filled season ...and you have the usual JFF trolls in here pissing all over him.

You people are disgusting.

Oh please. Nobody is pissing on him. He is what he is. A guy who played above expectations for about 5 weeks before teams started to figure out how to stop him.

He is still a guy we all like, and admire...just not sure why all the worship.

I am a Browns fan...and if it is BH or JM behind center and we win...I am all in.

But the hand-wringing and blatant hatred of JM is just goofy to me.

Gabe.. they couldn't wait to shit on Hoyer.. And lets see how much they love JFF when he struggles and all the excuses start coming... the first one will be.. "oh,but he's a rookie"... book it. Manziel fags are so myopic it's not even funny. I don't want the kid to fail.. but theyre just putting unreal expectations on the kid before he's even played a season of football.

First, please chill with the "f**" stuff. It's not necessary, it's disrespectful, and it just doesn't need to be part of the conversation.

Second, just because some are willing to take off the rosey colored glasses and see that Hoyer isn't God doesn't mean we are Manziel fans.

Third, last I saw BOTH Hoyer and Manziel played for the Browns...so openly hoping one or the other to fail is just rediculous...

...but mostly, I have not changed my analytical stance in 4 weeks. I have documented Hoyer's declining production and shown correlations to DA (scarily similar). Yet somehow I am infatuated with Manziel, when I fully expect him to have some really dificult stretches.

The only ones I see REQUIRING Manziel to be perfect are the ones complaining that Hoyer is getting a raw deal. Everyone else is basically saying "let's see what happens because this isn't working anymore".

Hoyer has really disappointed a lot of people who were hoping for a good QB situation in Cleveland. Now we know Hoyer isn't much good and Manziel is a big question mark who might be good or he might be a bust. The QB question marks in Cleveland never end.

Most Browns fans don't really care which QB produces, but we do want somebody to produce and help the team win games!

Mike and Mike had an interesting stat: first 9 games, Hoyer was 10-4 TD/INT witha 59% completion. That's not great, but not awful. It's the last 3 games, as has been pointed out, where he fell.

What's strange is, two of those three are with Gordon, and they said half of his picks were throwing to Gordon.

Just interesting that we get Gordon back and Hoyer falls off a cliff. Still think it's time to roll with Manziel though.

Interesting. Almost seemed like Hoyer was trying desparately to prove he COULD go long without play action...and ended up proving the exact opposite. It's a shame. I would have loved the hometown hero to SB champ story.

Well it was pointe dout how much he's been trying to force it to Gordon. I didn't realize to what extent. I think he's 1-6 TD/INT the last 3 games.

I thought of that, too, but the fact is Hoyer has been trending down no matter who is on the field at WR. I just think the guy is burned out. You know, Twiz, if Hoyer sits out a game ortwo he might come back stronger than ever the next week. Think about that ...

Maybe Hoyer just isn't built to mentally take a full schedule of games.

His situation here has been pretty messy too. Down to their 3rd string Center; been missing Gordon and Cameron, his top two weapons, almost all year; 1st year HC and coaching crew... tough season to be had.

This is an interesting critique, considering the frustration he showed during and after the game, I think it's a fair one. Its not to suggest Hoyer is somehow lacking mental fortitude either, but the NFL season is a long one, plus the pressure of having Johnny Football breathing up your neck. I would wager a guess that Hoyer hasn't felt comfortable with the job to a certain degree. He can say its his all he wants, but how do you ignore that presence looming. He's going to be there next year, you're not guaranteed a contract, etc, etc, there are many factors one could pick to suggest why Hoyer may be burntout, but its a theory I like.

Regarding Gordon, forcing it to Gordon has been a fascination of our QB's going back even to last season. I don't know if it's he's just a big target on the field for a QB or if he generates an innate trust but I can't explain throwing some of those passes that were made. Regardless, you want to involve a target like Gordon in to the game. I'm willing to bet some of the offensive prerogative was in fact "get Gordon the ball". To what extent? We won't know because we're not that involved but I think that may not be a factor you can place squarely on Hoyer...

I think Hoyer has shown a lot of admirable qualities, and has shown some faults. All in all, thinking to the earlier debates, he's shown to be what we anticipated and I think a lot of people realize that. People clamoring for Manziel in this thread need to respect the OP, this is NOT a thread to trash Hoyer but doubly so it's not a thread to champion Manziel or bring it in to that so please lets try and check ourselves before we wreck ourselves. I don't think it's crazy Hoyer may want to stay and be a part of what we're building here. I would love to have him as a backup QB on my roster (in theory. IMO if we're resigning Hoyer it's not to be outright starter and I don't want to say it would create hysteria, I shouldn't have brought it up :p) because I just like what Hoyer brings to the table as a teammate and as a Brown.

A lot is blown out of proportion thanks to conjecture, on both sides.

The unfortunate word for Hoyer: defensible. Like Kelly Holcomb. He has so many limitations, once teams had some film, the solution wasn't complicated. And they just kept following Jacksonville's lead.

Holcomb>Delhomme.. Delhomme was awful

and @TBPP: Dude no one is "trashing" Hoyer. Pretty much everyone said they appreciate where he has been able to get us to this point. We also are saying that his play has declined statitically, which is hampering the offensive production. thats not trashing man.. its a statistical fact. We need more TD's. Hoyer is not the best TD producer around... and thats fine.. he is a great "WIN" producer. Moving forward though... we are going to need ALOT of POINTS.. PASSING TOUCHDOWNS... and RUSHING TOUCHDOWNS to defeat playoff caliber teams.. especially an offensive powerhouse like Indy. Its not personal man. Its just business.

The QB's gravitation towards Josh is how open he gets. He's almost always got space in front or behind him whether he is single or triple covered. Its tempting.

Somebody really needs to define "trashing," because it's really lost all meaning here.

Showing someone's stats isn't trashing. It's just observing reality.

What?.. now were the speech police?... got it... I coulkd care less honestly..,This is America the last time I checked. I didn't cite you as a Manziel Fan.. I only said the ones that are. Couldn't wait to take a shit on Hoyer. And they did. I'm just merely saying hold Manziel to the same criteria that they held Hoyer.. nothing more. Im not asking Manziel to be perfect.. just be productive.. if he's not.. he can go take a flying fuck like the rest that has tried. I was pretty lenient by saying Id only expect one to 2 victories... While he's under center.
