Pick #4 Denzel Ward | Page 6 |

Pick #4 Denzel Ward

Marcus Peters is probably my favorite cb so if Dorsey has that eye for talent for the position i'm incredibly excited.

Also taking him as high as #4 we should resonably hope for a Jaylen Ramsey/Patrick Peterson type of talent when all is said and done. Sounds fucking good to me.
Well guess what mother fucker?!!!

A certain CB was promoted to starter after this last OTA. His name rhymes with Denzel Ward!

The defensive backfield is the most improved position group on the entire team, and the back end is the most vital upgrade with the most profound ripple effect. Having a legit cover guy at FS (primarily Randall but also BBC) allow Peppers to play closer to the line where he closed very strong last year.

Ward, Carrie, Gaines, BBC, Randall, Peppers has me very, very stoked. About as massive of an upgrade as you can make to a position group. I expect 5 of those guys to be on the field a ton, sometimes all 6 when Peppers is basically one of the two LBs.

Agree, EE, has to show up on the field... but for now, it's the most astounding influx of talent I can recall seeing from an NFL team in a single offseason (trades, FA, draft). You can look just about anywhere (today, RB seems appropriate) and go, "Holy shit. We extended Duke, signed Carlos Hyde, AND drafted Nick Chubb? All those things?!"

All I can think to say to that Shep is, well, it kind of had to be didn't it? In regards to the improvement. Peppers out-of-position hurt us a lot of times last year. I'm excited to see him not used out of necessity and instead thrown in to situations where he can be disruptive at the LOS and actually impact plays meaningfully instead of using him as some kind of contrived safety net. His second season should be very interesting.

I don't disagree at all with that notion, that top to bottom we look better (except OL because man you can't cover up losing a all-time great).

We see two elite WR's twice a year, I really hope Ward is a gamer because he's going to be tested.

I loved the Ward pick so much, wondered for months why it wasn't the scratch. We lacked a #1 corner and there was a legit #1 corner in the draft... from OSU.

I wasn't that high on Haden in the top 10. Tough guy but struggled with speed. Not an issue for Ward, obviously. Elite speed and hops.

The Durability issues along with suspect speed times only added to the frustration of Joe Haden.. He certainly didn't lack heart.. He showed plenty of it for Cleveland , period. Much like Cribbs.. He became one of us.. until Sashay dealt him away .....

He's a few years separated from being a #1 corner. Injuries are rough when you were right on the line speed wise. Tough guy, played hard, competed... but it feels like he had just a few years at the top of his game.

Uh, what about the QB room? No one is left from the year before and the new guys are a nice mix of young and veteran talent. The DB room has big upgrades to be sure, but several players are returning.

The tear-down, build-up from nothing QB room is transcendent. It changes the entire team in a huge way.

BTW, there's no need for the Browns to stop adding young talent to the secondary. Here's an interesting article on a few prospects that could be had in the supplemental draft....

https://dawgpounddaily.com/2018/06/08/cleveland-browns-supplemental-draft-worth-look/

Mississippi State safety Brandon Bryant, Virginia Tech cornerback Adonis Alexander and Western Michigan corner Beal are all set to be available in the July 11 draft. Should Cleveland pay attention to these secondary prospects?

Browns have two third-round picks in 2019. One of these could be used to pick up a speedster like Bryant.

I've heard a 3rd for him, 2nd for the WMU corner. We have two thirds and we're set at CB, could use another safety so...

He runs a 4.32. We can work with that.

EDIT:
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that former Mississippi State redshirt junior S Brandon Bryant has declared for the supplemental draft.

Bryant (5'11/205) is an athletic specimen capable of deadlifting 600 pounds and squatting 450 pounds, with a 40-yard dash time as fast as 4.24 seconds and a vertical jump of 35 inches. Had he declared for the spring draft and taken part in combine testing, the redshirt junior would have been among the top performers at safety. A DUI arrest at the end of January complicated his situation with Mississippi State. He was not practicing in the spring due to reported academic strife and left the team in early April. While Bryant has an intriguing athletic profile, the supplemental draft is very much a gamble. A player has not been selected in one since the Rams used a fifth-round pick on Clemson T Isaiah Battle in the summer of 2015. The date for the supplemental draft has not been set as of yet. Jun 6 - 12:50 PM

(Pelissero also called him "draftable.")
