NFL Draft Pick #85 G Zak Zinter, Michigan

Not happy with this pick at 85.
It Would have been fine if Zinter were our 5th Rd pick. He doesnt move ideal for our zone runs…. The Guard from UConn who went 5 slots earlier was IDEAL.
WE SHOULD HAVE TOOK PAYTON WILSON and he went to the damn Steelers after this!!!!
 
It's a third round pick Lou. The chances of these players panning out are slim but good Guards tend to fall. For some reason they have lesser value than other positions. Apparently, the Steelers feel the same. Zinter is coming off an injury too. Maybe he wasn't playing at 100%?
Right now, Bitonio is 32 years old and has a bad knee. The backups are Dawson Deaton, Michael Dunn and I guess we can throw in Wypler who is a Center by trade. They signed Germain Ifedi who is 29 years old and seems like a backup camp body atm.

I'd rather insert Zinter if Bitonio's knee goes to shit and keep Dunn & Deaton as backups. That is their role.
 
Had an 80+ pass blocking grade in the game. Still wet behind the ears, but solid thus far.

FTR, personal player preferences aside, if Conk and Jed pffft out, I'd move Bitonio to LT and put Zint at LG.
