Browns QB Talk 2025

If you're juiceless, you're useless
Okay, let's try this again ...

Kosar in an interview yesterday saying the best thing that ever happened to him as a rookie was to sit the first 6 games behind Doug Pederson. "I was a baby about it, because I wanted to start, but it was the best thing for me".

I'm usually pretty optimistic about our record. I think I predict 10 wins every year. Hard to see us not going 0-4 out of the shoot, and maybe 1-5 for the first six games. This ain't our year, with the Ravens and Bengals having HOF/MVP level QB's in the prime of their career, and the Steelers always being a tough. Likely 1-5 in the division on the year.

A rookie is going to have to light the world on fire, combined with an injury or two, in order for one of them to start week 1. I'm pretty sure all of us here are fine with that.

My view on it is, we need a vet to take some punches for the first 6 weeks. Pickett. Flacco. Whoever.
Then, it's time to pick a rookie and give him a whirl:

Week 7 : Dolphins
Week 8 : Pats
Week 9 : Bye Week
Week 10 : Jets

What's interesting is Carson Palmer said the same thing about sitting behind Jon Kitna his rookie year, as well as Tony Romo crediting being able to sit behind Bledsoe for awhile learning first.

Like I've always said, there are two optimal scenarios for a young QB coming into the NFL.

1: Sit them for the first season and have them pay attention and learn behind a solid Vet.

2: If you've already built the cockpit for the guy only then should you put him in the driver's seat right out of the gate.

On our situation, we all know the midget from Oregon is never going to amount to shit in the NFL, and Sanders is the golden goose. We are close to #2 but not fully there, so roll with option one then next season Sanders is stepping into that #2 example only WITH some NFL experience under his belt.

I wouldn't expect the rookies to start until after the bye week.
Even then it would depend on the the record and the schedule.
I still believe the starter will be Flacco.
And one of the QBs might mysteriously suffer an injury.
What kind of creative ways are there to make room for four qbs after final cuts?

Our defense should make us competitive. If Sanders is clearly the best QB in camp, start him day one. He's been in the spotlight his whole life and I don't think he'll shrink under pressure.

As well, I don't think sitting him the first few games will hurt his confidence either.

Sanders doesn't turn the ball over much, or at least didn't in college, and that usually transfers to the pros.

With our defense, we don't need the QB to be a superstar, just competent.

Flacco can do that and Pickett, while not exactly competent, was good enough to win quite a few games with that good Steeler D.

Kevin has a lot of options and hopefully he'll make the right decision.

If we get decent QB play, we can go 3-3 (or better) in the division.
