Browns - Stefanski is gone | Barking Hard

Browns Stefanski is gone

Now the question is, does Schwartz stay, get an interview, etc etc.
And if not Schwartz, who will want to come to rainy NE Ohio with no WR1, no OL, and no QB.

Good luck. We'll see.

I think this is what Sanders meant when he said he learned to have to play when being emotional. (paraphrasing)

He knew this was KS' last game as well as the rest of the team.

At any rate I think KS had some of the softest training camps ever. That might be just how it's done these days or not. I don't know but my God man tackle some in camp. Hit each other and knock each other around in camp. It's good for the football soul. Mostly don't keep giving "veteran days off" to half the damn team.

I forgot about McCown. Jimmy just said he wants Schwartz to remain with the organization! "Absolutely. Great coach" was his response when asked if he wanted him to remain with the organization.

Have to say, I don't hate keeping Berry like many do, as the knocks on him are

1) He's failed at QB - well, Haslam reportedly pulled trigger on the crippling Watson deal
2) He's failed at OL - it was our strongest unit until the last 2 seasons.
3) He's failed at WR1 - fair enough

But, we're also set on defense. The unit just needs the perineal tweak.
We're good on punter and kicker.
We're good at TE and RB.
WR depth is fine, just need a real WR1. One guy.
We're down to QB and OL.

So, if we decide we can't reach an elite QB in the draft, it's simple. Draft a WR and build the OL.
Heck, even Lumburg could follow that road map.

That's what I'm thinking. WR1 and a LT1. Then a RT or Guard. We can get a good Guard in the 3rd round most drafts so likely another T. Wypler looked at least serviceable at Center and D Jones moves to his natural position RT and competition from the rookies.

Berry had a great 2025 draft but does that absolve him of his prior mistakes?

1. Haslam gave the green light for the max deal. Berry was the one who targeted Watson and pursued the trade. That trade set them back for years.

2. He knew the OL was getting old and expensive but did little to shore it up. It wasn't like the OL went to shit overnight and they were scrambling to figure it out.

3. The WR room is easily the worst in the league. Juedy is showing why Denver traded him. The rest are average on their best day.

I'm not a fan of an "arranged marriage" between GM and HC that this will be. You know damn well that a part of the interview process will be to see if the HC candidate meshes with Berry.

I fear we, as fans, will end up rooting for a lame duck regime that gets a total housecleaning in 2 years.

Sad but true.

He's had a bunch of other successes, but when you only win 3 games in a season, and then 5, the focus is on the mistakes.
Human nature stuff.
His first round and second round success rate is better than average, but if you don't hit on the HC/QB combo, none of it matters.

well, thats disappointing TBH. berry I could live with leaving.drafting/FA has been meh
he should could have been fired for the graham pick alone.terrible terrible pick at 5th overall.:poop:
playcalling has been terrible from the get, hated him calling plays but as a HC I thought he was money..
he'll win a title IMO somewhere else.
thanks kev for all your efforts,I for one am sad to see you go.
thankyou.

and here we are stuck in cleveland.right back where we started
wait a goddamn minute..dont we have the ol lions HC jim schwartz from the game cover?
