If you're a Browns fan, best to emulate PGL or just get off the bus. If you can't have fun being wildly optimistic and hopeful, I don't know how you survive it. It's part of what defines the strange, nutty, but fun "club" we're all in.

Being a "sad" Browns fan seems sort of pointless. New uniforms, The Revenge of Johnny Football, and the draft? How could April be anymore fun? Embrace it!

So I should just stop being a fan of anything Ohio huh? Sure Shep. I'll stop rooting. #fuckno

I didn't understand this. Buckeyes just won the National Championship, Cavs are 27-6 the last 33 games... I really don't get what this meant. I just don't understand being relentlessly hopeless about your favorite team (your being the collective "your," not specifically you). Browns were 7-9 last year, have two first round picks, and the most exciting QB I've ever watched play college football. Oh, and new uniforms!

Fun.

...yeah, but....the Logo was announced on the wrong day....and it wasn't much of a change...and they didn't get all the players I wanted in FA....and they never draft the playes I want...and we all know I know more than they know....whaaaaa!

The best way to be disappointed in your team is to decide what they should do... and then give yourself a shit-ton of credit for being right... and then get really pissed when they don't do it and conclude that they're morons who will suck forever.

As in, AO and Bridgewater, now the talisman to NFL greatness.

1. College doesn't count.

2. Cavs haven't won shit yet.

So yes, I'm pessimistic bout my teams. Becayse they suck and I am fine with being critical of them. But theyre my teams, and I love them without the need for happy pills. So thats the point. I know most of mine on here are misunderstood or taken completely opposite of their meaning, but damn, just think about it a tiny bit.

If you think we shouldn't criticize teams, you shouldn't be on a message board.

Unless you start a new one where you're only allowed to be happy and shit rainbows.

You mean to say AO has a broken heart??

In his own words, "well, that tells me a lot!"

ACTUALLY, if you read Shep's original posts from back in the genesis of Barking Hard (2009, I think)....

that's exactly what Shep did..... this was to be all HAPPY Rainbow Shitting.

No personal attacks, no feelings hurt. All smiles and giggles.... it was ingenius.

But you can only have as much fun as others are willing to have on these things...

...which brings us to today...

....you noticed I just joined this month, but know about Shep's posts from 2009...

What can I say; I do my homework, and know what I'm getting into.

My favorite soccer club's motto is simply "PREPARED".
A duuuuude named Randy Lerner currently owns it.
But I loved them long before he joined...
...it better not get relegated! (it's close)
I once worked for Al & Randy, by the way.

If Manziel was the most exciting college QB you've ever seen play, then you need to watch more college football. Vince Young, Cam Newton and Tim Tebow were all more exciting...and better college QB's who actually won championships.

I will say, Oregon State is an example of how much fun you can have with jerseys.

Can't wait to see the 9 combos and totally dig the idea of gray splashed in.

I don't have any trouble with heated debate and/or disagreement. I know from way too much board experience that personal attacks never go anywhere good and shit spirals out of control at warp speed, so it's worth losing a little "freedom" to just make it a no-no. Sorry, Libertarians, but I've seen too many good boards turn to shit where every topic becomes a gang fight.

I've never understood determined fatalism where literally every post is about how much your team sucks in every conceivable way and does everything wrong. It just sounds like the worst hobby ever.

And Jay, I'm definitely in it for the fun. I've had a great time on trips to see the Browns and meet other fans, spent time with my kids... and saw the Browns lose. But they couldn't take the fun back. Same for my draft excitement. The excitement happened. I enjoyed it. I had fun. If the draft pick goes on to suck, the gods can't retroactively delete the joy I took from draft season.
