The New Logo / Jersey Speculation

Here's the kind of thing I wish the Browns would do for just a game here and there. The rest of the league will do throw back weekends and, despite width of stripes and shades or orange, ours look pretty much the same.

I'd rather see them do a "flash forward" thing or just call it an alternate uni - just for fun. It's clear some part of the fan base would like to see something a little different. The traditional every day uni would stay the same. Kind of like Notre Dame does the Shamrock series and they break out something wild for one weekend. Ohio State pulls out that gun metal gray helmet now and then and the team tackles the same and the fan base survives.

I probably wouldn't. I couldn't take a front office that would degrade their team as much as to put them in something that ridiculous - just like the over-sized dog logo helmet. Might as well put them in clown suits and pink tutu's. It would be the same thing - a laughing stock.

The Brown helmet is a bad helmet - our helmet is iconic - other than the small changes they made this year, you don't change that...not even for 1 game. The jersey itself is even more boring than our normal jersey. The brown numbers outlined in brown are dull and doesn't stick out. The 'B' on the shoulders just looks bush league and like amateur hour. It's just an over haul that really brings the normal jerseys down to an arena league or high school level - and is just flat out awful in every regard.

I think we should have alternate uniforms and helmet. If we made playoffs, that'd be best uniform to wear.


Those uniform and helmets are best I've seen. Those would bring free agents. Young players want those "LOUD" uniforms. I hope our uniforms is those good looking ones we saw our probowlers wearing.

Context, I like Oregon and Maryland outgoing-ness vs the Penn State tradition. Most guys my age don't want anything new and like tradition better. I get I'm in the minority. I'm ok with that.

But again, I like the orange helmets. I feel it should be the base look. I just don't understand the trepidation with trying something different now and then. Like once a year. You try it, some will love, some will hate, and some indifferent. No biggie.

This isn't college football. Some teams wear throwbacks once a year - they don't go Oregon style or Nike Pro Combat style. Those are simply gimmicks.
 
Why not though?

I mean.. it's pretty badass what Nike does in oregon.. that would be awesome for an NFL team to do the same.. jersey revenue would explode.. people would collect the different designs.

Think if something great happened with 1 particular set.. that would be the 2015 AFC championship edition. Or if there was some rediculous hail Mary to win a game it's the "hail mary" edition jerseys. So much potential.
 
That's all I'm saying PGL. Last I looked, the NFL likes generating revenue and judging by the out cry of the lack of change the recently released new helmet logo, I'm betting there are a few who wouldn't mind it. 1 day a year. The traditionalists can have 364, and the fans who want something else get to see something 1 day a year.

Again, I really like the new orange. I was really hoping they'd burn it, and they did. Can't wait to see the new uni's. I'm betting the Browns look sharp as hell come this fall.

Is it football season yet?

The NFL is a multi-billion dollar industry with very intelligent marketing people. Nike is a billon dollar company with some of the best marketing people in the business. If it would sale and generate interest, they would be doing it.

It's a different league with different fan bases. Oregon dirsnt do it to generate jersey sales - they do it as a gimmick; largely to set themselves apart from power programs like Alabama, USC, Ohio State, etc...because Oregon is not in fertile recruiting ground. It's an attemp to attract recruits (kids), who are young and impressed with flashy uniforms. The NFL has a completely different demographic target. Again, if they thought it would make millions, they would do it.
 
Ohio State does do it. USC and Bama have gone up and down due to coaching and violations. Nothing to do with uni's.

Agree to disagree and in the end, you're right because I don't see it happening.

Back to the Browns uni's, the "primary orange" as the color rumor worries me and I hope we don't end up looking like this. Again, I could do it for a game, no biggie, but am really hoping it's not our new normal.

You see that's what I would love for our standard unis.. all orange.. with compliments of brown and grey.

Once again were not named after the color
 
I can live with those. Although I would like the white stripe on the helmet to be just a little thinner.

I'm interested to see if they go with texture like Seattle in the white stripe - that is one thing I would like them to do. Could be cool.
 
Oh for Pete's sake QCT, we can't get on the same page! I'm not really into those, other than maybe on a Halloween Sunday for shits and giggles. But in the end, it's all good. Just off season fodder all this is I tell you.

I am really craving the gunmetal though. Done right, it could be bad ass. I could even do road gray. Not quite this, but something like it:
