ALSO..

Another indicator that the primaries will be orange..

Remember in training camp this year how the "Winning" side each day in practice got to wear the orange training jerseys the next day?

It shows the players are all in on orange.. as they loved it.

Not at all.. The bengals are more black orange and white..

Im not seeing the similarities.. we wouldnt have any black in our jerseys

PGL and I agree on basically everything... but this. It doesn't really matter WHY the Browns are called the Browns... they are. And it's a color. And it was really some weird compromise when the Cleveland Panthers came in first in a Plain Dealer poll and Brown Bombers came in 2nd!

But again... it doesn't matter. They're the Browns. That makes your primary color obvious, at least to me.

This is why we aren't getting made fun of for signing McCown. #ThanksPRdept

I'm fine w McCown, btw.

I probably wouldn't. I couldn't take a front office that would degrade their team as much as to put them in something that ridiculous - just like the over-sized dog logo helmet. Might as well put them in clown suits and pink tutu's. It would be the same thing - a laughing stock.

The Brown helmet is a bad helmet - our helmet is iconic - other than the small changes they made this year, you don't change that...not even for 1 game. The jersey itself is even more boring than our normal jersey. The brown numbers outlined in brown are dull and doesn't stick out. The 'B' on the shoulders just looks bush league and like amateur hour. It's just an over haul that really brings the normal jerseys down to an arena league or high school level - and is just flat out awful in every regard.
Why don't we have the games in B&W it's so "iconic" lol

Gunmetal grey and orange looks good!! We are the paul browns. Our helmet is orange. It's our primary color. We can't even wear the Brown pants. We always lose. Orange needs to be primary home uniform. Bright orange with brown #s n letters. White pants. Brown socks.

Grey/white/ orange for away. Brown under armour long sleeve tops under pads n jerseys.

We should have slightly collegiate alternative uniform for one game a year. I wanna see orange pants. Gunmetal grey top n orange pants. That would b awesome aways.

I think Joe Haden should pick them. He collects shoes. He has fresh, new school, ideas that guys will like. We want uniforms players will like. So, they hopefully got to pick them out.

Well.. the only reaction I have is.. "whoopieeee" can we move on now and win some goddamn games? , or what?.. except the facemask being Brown.. it's lame.. and the logo looks like a whimpering puppy.. Well done Browns.. your doing a great job maintining your title as the dumbest FO in the NFL.. were all so fucking proud, At how you drag us through your crud'

They've openly said they are targeting children with the dog pound logo so I mean in that regard I think it's mission accomplished. Overall, keeping it a helmet. MY guess is maybe: The fans wanted change more so than the team expected within all of their focus groups and whatever else BS they did before cooking this up.

If giving Nike the keys to the back door and saying "Let's see what you come up with kid." (a la, Tampa Bay.) is what we are in for, I think that again, a lot of us are going to end up disappointed.

The team said we gave them our permission to change the uniforms... whatever that means.

I agree EE

Its so weird.

For the past year Ive read countless posts.. on countless websites and forums all sounding like..

"THEY BETTER NOT CHANGE ANYTHING.. NOTHING TOO CRAZY.. KEEP IT TRADITIONAL OR IM DONE AS A FAN"

which is insane..

and now after the logo release.. those same people who were saying the above a month ago are all like..

"THATS IT?!?! THATS THE "BIG CHANGE" ITS THE SAME THING.. TOO TRADITIONAL... TRY SOMETHING NEW AND REVOLUTIONARY!! THIS IS AWFUL"

Its like.. people just want to complain so they can complain

Agree with both of you. No doubt the majority of the fan base wanted the orange helmets to remain. After that, the opinions vary widely.

I still think it was a PR dept misstep (btw, not a huge f-up). Should have said we have new uni's and "we're going to reveal the updated helmet early".

It's the "new logo" thing that threw everybody into imagination-mode.

I get the feeling the change to the helmet is simply going to be a different, brighter shade of orange and a brown face mask. The change to the logo reflects the change to the helmet. Can't have your old helmet as your logo.

That frustrates me, because if I'm right the helmet change isn't going to be anything different. It'll be 'Yeah, we saw the logo' which diminishes the change.

Fuck dropping the logo two months before the helmets and jerseys. They should have done it all at once before the combine. The complete changes would have avoided everyone being underwhelmed by the logo, would have kept the element of surprise and would have give the combine a certain "New Browns" kind of feel, which may have helped give the rookies some excitement with it in their face.

I think there will be some slight change with the helmet - whether it be a slightly thicker white stripe or some texture added to the stripe (e.g. Seattle) - something subtle but noticeable and welcomed.

Again, should have said "2015 helmet" or "sneak peak at helmet to go with new jerseys".

Ehh well. It's over. Moving on.

Great read about why our logo is fine the way it is. It represents CLEVELAND FOOTBALL.

Just a paragraph I liked:
The Browns are the only team in the NFL that doesn’t wear a symbol on its helmet, and the only one named after a person, the legendary coach Paul Brown, founding father of American football who won seven league championships in Cleveland before being fired by (of course) Art Modell. Yet Brown was uncomfortable with his status as the franchise’s namesake, so for a long time the Browns intentionally obscured the origin of the name, at one point pushing the story that the name was inspired by world famous boxing champ Joe Louis, “the Brown Bomber.” Paul Brown’s image has never been used as a logo or a mascot for the franchise, which, in the 1940s adopted “Brownie the Elf” as an official symbol, representative of the mythical “Brownie” creatures of Scottish and English folklore “who helped out with household chores as long as you left them little goodies to eat.” The Browns name also evokes legendary running back Jim, as well as the earthiest of colors, brown, prominently featured on the team’s uniforms.
