The Offensive Line

I know...I should lose my man card...but I have an 18mth old son and I am trying to protect his psyche from the visual horror that has been the Browns for most of my life. Perhaps once they win more than 6 games I will allow him to watch it. Don't want the little guy to have nightmares (the fumble, the drive, etc...).

Cam's errors are costing us big time and to me its symptomatic of a young man who is either a) incapable and will never get it or b) isn't ready for prime time just yet. Either way, he can't be out there under live fire quite obviously. He's just too detrimental to the team.

The staff obviously knows all this much better than any of us, so I have to presume they don't think its a) but rather have hoped it would click faster and he'd be performing better. In all honesty, this is that type of year where we want the young guys with promise to struggle now so they won't be struggling next year. Its just damn hard to watch a first round OL make this many stupid mistakes in the course of two games in his sophomore year. It might be one thing if he were a rookie, but.... he isn't.

I have a 7 month old and I made him watch the first quarter and as soon as the writing was on the wall, sent him to go play in his room with mom. Ha.

Just signed a center. 6'3" 307. Been a center forever - thank God. A driven kid. Worked his ass off put on 15 pounds of "the right kind of weight" in the off season.

Skins have a vet in the middle of a 5-yr contract at starting center. Must have a Grecco type of guard they can move over in case of emergency, as their starter is the only center on their 53-man.

Here's a nice quick write-up on his off season: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-right-kind-of-bulk-in-search-of-roster-spot/

Kinda tells us what the front office thinks of Anthony Fabiano.
They wouldn't even promote a guy they had on their own PS.

Fabiano is known to be supremely athletic...but he needs to build his lower body strength. More likely a guy stashed for strength and conditioning training for next year.

My goodness. The unseen mistakes by Cam, in addition to the 4th down motion penalty, fumbled exchange, and downfield penalty on a successful 3rd down conversion.

Who knows how qualified the author is to truly evaluate OL play and Cam in specific, but the film sure doesn't seem flattering. Mind boggling a guy struggling this much was a first round pick. (Cough. Farmer?)

I somehow missed this is how Cam got the bruised lung. Oh Cam...

Agree here. Pasztor is likable, hard-working, and a serviceable back up, maybe even starter material at RG, but he just isn't a starting RT. I bet's he'd grade in the 70's at RG vs the league's worst at RT.

We've seen rookies in this class bump and push vets. Nassib, Ogbah, Kindred, etc. A little worried S. Coleman and Drango haven't sniffed the RT spot in the regular season with Pasztor's very poor play.

Seems like our best O line would be JT-JB-JG-AP, and SC vs SD. BUT (as has been said before), why can't they beat out Pasztor? Pasztor in place of Bitonio did a darn good job last year. He can play guard. Watch Crow's late season TD's and long runs, and Pasztor was moving people. He's a 6'7" mountain man, he just doesn't have the feet for RT.

Greco graded out as a top-15 center and he's barely played that position historically.

Someone in the game day chat said they read they're intentionally bringing S. Coleman along in a measured way. I think his feet look slow, but what do I know. Have also read the coaching staff, once they move to Coleman, they don't want to look back, so they're making sure he's ready. Drango is more versatile, so that's why he's made the active roster each week, but supposedly, Coleman is THE guy who will be RT until proven otherwise.

Is sure seems like Colemen could do no worse than a pile of penalties and being ranked with the very bottom of RT's.

Bailey didn't to that well, so bump Pasztor to RG and move in Drango to RT.

So far, Schwartz continues to be the only past vet we should have gone to the mat for (since Mack wanted to bolt).

---

Also reading they're starting to feel Cam's best position may be RG. It's where they feels he's played best as a Brown. They feel his Florida State tackle skills alone would have made him a mid-round draft choice. It seems he's not an RT candidate.

What a dumbass...

From Jeff Schudel:
Alvin Bailey starts at right guard for #Browns at 1 p.m. in Miami. 12 hours later, arrested on OVI charges in North Royalton.
