The Offensive Line

From Cleveland.com.

Away from the play, Irving punched Erving in the face, according to Browns left tackle Joe Thomas; and Erving kicked the defensive lineman in the crotch and then took Irving's helmet off and whipped it at him.

Both were flagged and ejected and spent the rest of the game in the locker room. Helmet-throwing is an automatic ejection.

I listened to Hue's post game interview and the Helmet throw was the ejection. He probably would not have been ejected if it weren't for that.

At least he's a fighter??

Scam sucks and I don't get the whole, put him at LT BS. Are you shitting me?! That guy's footwork is barely acceptable for Center play.
How that makes him an LT candidate is just reaching. Watch his footwork and his bend. It's rarely the same from play to play let alone good...for a Center. Dudes bullrush his weak assed, piss poor technique and regularly get passed him and confuse the shit outta him.

Scam is not an NFL OLineman in any capacity. :soapbox:

I blame that block above on Cam more than Drango. Both at fault though.

---

Meanwhile, over on PFF, JT ranks top 5 and both Greco and Bitonio are top 15 (out of 80). Pasztor is still a keeper as he's above avg and flexible.

It's Cam. That guy is that bad. Dragging down the whole damn unit.

And as much as everyone loves Barny, his blocking grades continue to suck. They did last year too.

Scam is bringing down the whole offense. I mean holy shit man! Rieter comes in for three quarters and they look far better than when his no talent confused ass is in.

Greco and Drango are trying to baby sit his position and it just goes to shit and they end up allowing leakage from their positions from different angles.

Ima trust you, Jay. I'm not much of an OL expert. I did key on Reiter (so unusual for me) and he did play a whale of a game.
I sure as shit ain't no expert, but if you watch his footwork and compare that to JT it's way different and easy for all to see.

He has a "Crazy Legs" thing going on.

I actually agree. There were a few times during the game that the reverse angle showed both guard positions expecting support from Cam but not getting it. At times both Drango and Greco were able to recover, but as we see in the video shown, at times not. Cam is just pure and simple ass. It seems like he's only getting worse, too. He's not actually showing any improvement. I'd understand if it was all Drango seemingly expecting support, he's a rookie who is only just starting so mistakes are expected, but seeing it happen to Greco too has me thinking Cam is more at fault.

I won't be shocked if changes are coming. At this stage, it's probably too late. I'd swing Greco to C, Pasztor to G and give Coleman some end of season experience. Greco is a big improvement at C, Pasztor is a better G than T, and Coleman was drafted to be the future so bring it on.

We really have nothing to lose at this stage. It can't be worse than it is, and that combination will help find out if we've got a keeper in Coleman.

Agreed on Barnidge, too. His blocking issues were easy to overlook when he was killing it in the catching game but that ain't there anymore. He's been good, but not great, and you can't be only good if your blocking stinks.

Pasztor has been much improved at RT as this season has gone on and if Coleman goes in at RT our QB will get punished until he shets his git together.

And I like Pasztor as a guard, but he might end up being a solid RT after all and if things are ok now why fuck with it?

Unless Coleman starts tearing it up in practice wait 'til next year on him and don't force him into the lineup ala Scam. Coleman is still recovering from a knee injury I think too.

Yep, looking up some numbers

Cam's run-blocking grade is 46.1
Barny's run-blocking grade is 42.9

(Gronk and Olson rank in the mid 70's for blocking and mid 80's for receiving - for reference. Upper 30's is about as low as you can go.)

Still don't get what Hue sees with his belief in Cam. Cam just doesn't have the leverage or vision to play center. If you can't anticipate stunts and sense in-play movement, well then you don't belong there.

Would be fine seeing JT, SD, JG, Cam (@guard), AP or better yet, JT, SD, JG, AP, SC. Gotta do something.

Drango actually seems to be improving with more game play. Would like him to keep getting reps. His run blocking grades are trending up, but his pass blocking grades aren't there yet - but that's in part due to knuckle head Cam next to him.

Cam does this thing where he picks a side and goes blind to the other. You have to spread eagle and feverishly look right and left as a pass play unfolds if you're uncovered as a center. He just doesn't.
