Always possible, but our quarterbacks are getting killed anyway, so I'd like to roll that dice.

The great news, too, is Coleman was a project because of his pass blocking but he was a monster run blocker. And at the end of last season our run blocking came to life largely as a result of Pasztor starting at guard. I think those two together could really help kick start this rushing game, which would really help back off the pass rush. This would especially be true if Kessler would throw the fucking ball deep.

Pasztor has been good at RT but I'm not convinced he's been good enough to hold Coleman off next year. These last few games could be helpful in assisting Coleman's development while keeping Pasztor fresh at G, because he's ultimately a swing man for us who can do both.

A few of the insider places have posted that the Browns really believe in Coleman, they think he's going to be very good with some time, so I vote kickstart that development. It'll give us some interior help with Greco and Pasztor playing comfortable spots while Coleman would have the added benefit of strong options regarding TE chips and RB blocking support.
 
I can't get past this one. Instead of guarding the gut, Cam shuffles behind Greco with the "I hope nothing goes wrong" shuffle.

Drango seems to indicate "WTF?". This is why O lines need to be fairly stable. Drango now knows, never assume Cam will be there. In fact, assume he won't.

I realize they're simply grading each lineman on his own merit and then adding it all up and ranking them, but I feel there ought to be a big "0-10 downgrade".

(or, our QB's are the worst in the league)

If the memory of Thursday night against the Ravens is still fresh in your mind, rest assured that the Browns’ offensive line has been better than that most of the season, despite being stressed significantly by the QBs it has been protecting. Cody Kessler has shown promise as a rookie, but holds the ball too long much of the time, and is the league’s most-pressured QB largely because of his own failings, and not those of the line. That being said, this is where the grades begin to fall off and O-lines look seriously flawed. C Cameron Erving has been a major disappointment as a center, struggling to run block or pass protect, while even LT Joe Thomas has shown signs of being mortal.

Nothing shocking here, Kessler does hold the ball too long and Cam does suck.

I can't remember which of the old timers said the qb makes or breaks a o-line but it's more true than false imo.
 
I actually am.

He was having a great season until the Ravens game. But I'm not mad at him for that - he'd missed the whole week of practice before coming up against Suggs. Suggs is a fucking man. He's going to make his plays, and that's further confounded when coming up against a player who isn't at a complete stage of preparation. It reminds me of defending BB-C against A.J Green, who had a much rougher time than JT did against Suggs. BB-C played damn well be A.J got his because he's a man and that's what men do.

One game doesn't change a damn thing. It doesn't make Joe Thomas mortal, and he's still the best blocker in the entire league. Bar none, not even close, pack it up and ship off the award to #73.

That's why they only stated Joe has been mortal - If they were asked to say WHY he's suddenly a mortal...

"Oh, he had a 'bad' game while playing injured against an elite talent... who got a sack. Yeah. One sack. One single tackle, that happened to be a strip-sack. That was his day. It's not like he put three sacks on Thomas. It's not like he racked up 12 tackles. He got one hit while the Browns were trying to take a deep shot in heavy coverage. But we're going to call that being mortal because fuck Joe Thomas and fuck the Browns."

Giving up a sack doesn't make a man like Joe Thomas mortal. Even he will occasionally give up a sack.
 
Then there's this little tidbit from Pryor:

Wide receiver Terrelle Pryor ripped his teammates -- the offensive line and running backs -- for their failures in pass protection.

“I’m tired of our quarterbacks getting hit,” Pryor said. “... It is dangerous. They’re getting hit every play. ... Whoever’s giving up the blocks, they need to stop that s---.”

Fascinating to see how Hue deals with that one. We know who's giving up the blocks (looking at you interior OL). We also know our QB's are putting themselves in harm's way some too. Cracks emerge when you're 0-11. Ouch.

Browns OL needs serious attention. Bitonio and Reiter will help a lot, obviously, but we need at least one other high level guy. I know the national media is calling for more but you can't toss aside Drango, Coleman, and Pasztor and just churn young talent.
 
I had to laugh (in a kill me now kind of way) every time I watched Grecco help Cam's helpless ass to block a single DT only to have a DE or LB walk right through the hole Grecco left and sack the QB without anyone touching him along the way. Erving has to go.
 
It was brutal. I don't think I can recall a single play where Erving just took on one pass rusher himself. Sure, I'm being sensationalist but on damn near every pressure you could find Erving either holding Greco or Drango's hand. He reminded me of the new kid in first grade being assigned a "buddy" to ease the shock of a new classroom.
 
Erving needs to go. Every single snap he takes is an indictment of Hue, IMO. I want to give him some slack but its shit like that which is just mind boggling. Our QB's are getting killed out there. Kessler's had TWO concussions this season alone. That will drastically shorten his career, no doubt about it. McCown is back to looking like ass (as in, outside the two good season's he has had his entire career) because he's playing behind this abortion. RGIII would surely be hurt and then we would be looking at our what, seventh QB to play and fourth to start this year?

Last year when we fired our OL coach mid-season, the line wasn't this bad.
