The Safeties

He needs to invest in leg day seeing as he blew out his ankle. Stretch! Do some bands to start then light weights before kicking it in high gear. It's so simple.

I assume you suffer from chicken legs syndrome, huh? 😢

delpit played great today starting at strong side safety with JJ3 at FS.
It looks like we have a reliable safety pairing for the 1st time in years and hello the D suddenly looks much better for it.
like Ive bin sayin since we traded away peppers (who has been the starter in NY this year)

BTW where is ocon our old friend?

hmm MJ stewart filled in today. hes much better as a FS than a CB IMO. he played well today.
still JJ3 and delpit will be great for us in 22.nice to know we dont need a high DB pick this year in the draft.

Seems like a chance at progression.
Of course 2023 only has hope, like every year.

Thornhill is proven and in his prime
Delpit played 1000+ snaps in 2022
McLoud is hand picked by our new DC

All true. Just a depth warm body guy.

I really kind of like Bell and Hickman though.

Especially Hickman. A very very good UDFA pick up by Berry and had his best grade of the season vs the Jags, and helped seal the game along with C-Mitch on 4-&-2 with a PBU.

Out of 21 rookie safties, Hickman is currently ranked 4th.

S D’Anthony Bell - vs the Bears ... the highlights

  • Started the game in place of the injured Juan Thornhill and shined. It began early.
  • In the first quarter, RB D’Onta Foreman found a wide-open hole and it looked like paydirt only to have Bell come across and level him for just a two-yard gain.
  • Then Bell forced QB Justin Fields into a sack with 3:40 left before the half when he rushed and forced Fields into the waiting arms of DE Alex Wright on a third-and-eight.
  • Early in the third quarter, one of the few punt returns it was Bell who pushed KR Trent Taylor out after a short gain.
  • With 15 ticks left in the game, Bell held RB Roschon Johnson to an incompletion.
  • Then Bell had the pick on the final play of the game, ran it out of the end zone, and wisely downed it to end the game instead of possibly fumbling the game away.
  • Finished with five tackles, one tackle for loss, and one batted pass. Nice job

This also speaks to the development of players in our system over the course of a few years so when called upon they've at least been playing in the system and only need some playing time to show how good they can be.

This staff has done this with DPJ, Harrison Bryant, Takitaki, AJ Green and a ton of OLinemen over the last couple of years.
