Browns - Todd Monken is the new HC | Page 2 | Barking Hard

Browns Todd Monken is the new HC

So, to glass-half-full-it

  • He won back to back national titles at Georgia as the OC
  • Sanders and Watson both may be less dramatic than Jackson, so he can handle them
  • No longer will we get PR speak at the pressers
  • His year here as OC was productive as hell with Baker, Chubb, OBJ, and Jarvis
  • He's a known, not an unknown
  • Probably has the ability to get coordinators with a known track record
  • Monken won out because he offered a clear offensive plan, which is something Schwartz didn't do
  • Very straightforward. He doesn’t sugar coat, he’s not afraid of players (including superstars) and he can be acerbic. Don’t expect any handholding or coddling (per Aditi)
  • When John Harbaugh hired Todd Monken as his OC, he very specifically told the @NFLonCBS crew a huge part of the appeal was that Monken is not a system guy. He’s someone who could adapt and fit and create offense to match players, as opposed to being slave to one structure (per Aditi)
  • If it matters, the Giants fans view this as a "we lost out on him"
  • He knows the defensive players of the AFCN

I guess in the end we have no choice on how this all plays out.

we are going to lose.
a rookie HC now to go with our rookie QB(c'mon man) and our now headless D?
we go from KS to hot toddy? 2 time NFL COTY to I've never done this before?
the browns draft good players.we hire good staff.what we do is we let them walk away..
remember this D before jimmy S? hes going to go win a SB.
If you think we have a winning season this year you are out cho mind.

NEW-just saw the jimmy post where he was visibly upset.visibly upset!he was fu^king crying?
Im now VISIBLY UPSET TOO! this is a major major mistake.
you let jimmy run it for a year at his age you give him a shot and start looking to 2027
you dont hire a rookie HC over this man.
MG may walk..todd should have been the OC.no brainer.

Warhop coached here before

I'm wondering if the deal was

1) We need offense. more than anything
2) Schwartz + the WR, OL, and QB question marks was not going to attract a legit upgrade on offense, thus
3) We had to give the HC job to a legit offensive coach, as legit OC candidates simply were not going to come here.

He guided OSU (Okie State) to an 12-1 record and made Brandon Weeden a first round pick. Yes… that Brandon Weeden.

As HC, took over a zero win Southern Miss team and guided them to 9 wins in 3 seasons and was conference coach of the year.

Mage Mike Glennon a serviceable QB in Tampa

Won 2 Natties at UGA with a walk on QB

His brother is the HC currently at Army (leadership in that fam apparently)

Guided Lamar to his best season ever

(HT: Q on 𝕏)

I'm sure JT will talk him up lol...

🎯

Big run game guy. His units have produced ten seasons of an 1,000yd rusher

Adrian Murrell '98
Frank Gore '06-'08
Peyton Hillis '10
Doug Martin '15
Leonard Fournette '19
James Robinson '20
Derrick Henry '24-'25

Even Trent Richardson almost had a 1k season

I see we are piling the bullshit ten miles high for Monken.

He was a College HC for three seasons and had one winning season. One. And it was 9-5, not impressive in the least.

Since then he has been a failed OC in Tampa Bay, Cleveland and inherited a good Offense in Baltimore only to shit the bed in the playoffs over there.

No spin needed, it's a shit hire by Haslam and Berry. And it cost us good Coaches as a result.
