Browns Watson status check 2025/2026

Watson had insane bad luck, and he was used poorly which imo led to injuries.

Call it karma ....I guess.

As far as Jimmy goes, I think his weakness is listening to other people, to include his wife. He is the DEI King of the NFL and it's annoying AF it has to be in Cleveland.

If he would just go with his common sense and stop being so weak, we'd be good. Instead we are staffed by the Fritz Pollard Alliance and whoever Dee points to. (see drunk lesbians and female GMs) She is knee deep in the entertainment industry and is totally controlled. 🤷

So what if Watson works his ass off and is ready to go in December and we're not in contention? We probably play him. I mean. . . we're paying him next year too. He's only 29. Am I wrong to have not completely given up on him? I mean. . . at one time. . . while not a Brown. . . he was pretty fucking good.

Would be one of the greatest comebacks in sports history.

Uhmm fuck him.. I want that disgusting turd ball out of town like... Yesterday... His ship has sailed..

What's wrong with you, bro?!

Seriously though, the Haslam's have an insurance clause in his contract that gets them this year's salary back...if he doesn't see the field.
And the rest is history.

What's wrong with me? Well. . . I'm a Browns fan for one. And we're stuck with him next year too. So if he comes back and plays great, all is forgiven. We have the guy and we start winning. I'm not saying this is going to happen. More likely you are right. But I'm so desperate for a franchise QB that I can't rule out anything.

I'll never forgive that slimy cocksucker... Fuck him...

Better he play well here than somewhere else like Pittsburg.

Think Jimmy buys him out of next year ?

With 200m invested I would see if he can play. sure paid enough.
Idk. I think the majority of fans have definitely seen enough. I would think the organization has probably seen enough as well. I know he's rehabbing the achilles injury but, IMO, they don't draft two QB's if they think he can come back and be the guy.

When healthy his play has been poor to average. He's had a major shoulder injury and now a major lower leg injury. I personally don't think the juice is worth the squeeze.

My opinion is also that he never truly wanted to come to Cleveland. The $240M guaranteed brought him here. How focused is he when he pretty much immediately turned them down until the bank vault was opened up?

I believe next year the cap hit is not disgusting and it will give them the window to release him.

If he doesn't play this year they get his salary back through their insurance policy. So, Jimmy could take that insurance check and buy out his 2026 year and release him if they can't find a trade for him.

His salary right now is reasonably close to average and maybe a little lower after this year. I'm not sure what it is atm due to they've been reducing his payout every single year and I don't know how that affects the final year of his contract.

"The restructure involved the Browns converting $44.7 million of Watson’s 2025 $46 million base salary to a restructure bonus, thereby lowering his base to $1.255 million.

They also added yet another void year in 2030 to keep pushing the cap charges out further and giving themselves relief in future years.

Having signed a five-year contract extension with the Browns in 2022 worth a fully guaranteed $230 million — the first fully guaranteed pact in the NFL — Watson still has two years left on his deal in 2025 and 2026 at the average of $46 million a year.

Although $44.7 million comes in the form of a restructure bonus this year, he won’t get all of that money in one lump sum. It will be paid out over the course of the season."

it's not like we have any QB now or in any known future. the biggest question is how is the relationship with Watson and the FO is now.
if they are good all's good.
Thru all of these Decades of being without a Good QB at least we haven't had one slip away that we have to watch play well elsewhere, until now with Baker. fact is I just hate it. don't want to see it with Watson too.

Worst trade in NFL history. No question. I'm not saying it was necessarily a stupid trade. There's always going to be an IF in that trade. Unfortunately, we didn't get the guy we traded for.

But is Watson washed up? He turns 30 in September, not old for a QB.

I think it's 100% about his head. Is he seriously interested in making a comeback? He's got bank. Where's the drive?
He's literally not shown any passion for playing in Cleveland since he got here.
But I'm still not ruling him out.
